@Bluespade: Blueblood's not a villain, but he's definitely an antagonist to Rarity.

@Ginger: In "Owl's Well" and "Secret of My Excess", Spike is the antagonist. I mean, you can argue "Owl's Well", but.

It's only really a gender imbalance if you skew your definition of "antagonist" in such a way that you don't count members of the mane cast when they happen to be the antagonizing force of the episode.

@Bluespade: Regardless of whether she could have walked away, Blueblood was an antagonist. He may not have meant it, but he was foiling her objective just by being who he was. It's not his fault, nor is it hers, but the viewer's naturally inclined to take Rarity's viewpoint, and that makes Blueblood the antagonist in that particular interpersonal trouble.

Besides, she was perfectly nice to him according to the rules of high society.

It really isn't imbalanced though. It just seems that way because of the show's natural gender imbalance forces male antagonists to be one shot characters. If they want a female antagonist they just have one of the mane cast be the cause of the problem for the episode, so the list of male one shot antagonists ends up massively outnumbering the females.

Also, everyone is forgetting Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon.

What gender do the parasprites count as? Or do they not have a gender since they reproduce asexually? We could have a whole third category here.
