Shame, cuz I have nothing to add.

I don't play MMO's. Nor do I like them in any concievable way.

Ah well, I guess I'll get back to reading Homestuck waii

[up] I think she just tweaked it. or got a really bad cramp

Sweet!

Diamond Dogs could be minor mook enemies, which only take a few hits to send them yelping away.

[up][up][up][up] Technically, I think the Dig Dogs would be mooks. The Diamond Dogs would be mook leaders or elite mooks waii

Eh, I honestly don't care for that topic to much. If nothing else is going on I'll go back to studying and working on Workshop stuff.

Also I really did not find the wing bone noise all that cringe inducing.

So does Spitfire's design come from the show somehow or is it fanon? Cause I see it a lot.

Honestly lately I'd been giving a lot of thought for building an RPG for kids. Not necessarily an MMO, even just a single game. It really seems like it could be a lot of fun.

I had had the idea of the enemies just being corrupted or discorded ponies, but introducing monsters might be interesting... big discorded animals as bosses or something? It's just that monsters kind of lend themselves to actual fighting, and if Hasbro lent out the rights to this they'd probably want it to be pretty kid-friendly, so killing giant monsters is sort of... out. But I suppose a brawl might not be.

[up] I guess you could either talk the monster to death, or just play to escape?

[up][up][up] She's never been seen without her outfit, no. The uniformless design is fan-made

I'd still rather a dialogue based confrontation system [lol]

Yeah talking rather than fighting seems like a good idea.

Yeah, it'd fit the tone better.

A few months back I had a whole lot of ideas for a pen and paper rpg system based entirely around gaining social status and power. It would have replaced the traditional rpg combat with an in depth conversation and information control system, sort of what you guys are talking about.

I never even started on it though cause I knew none of my actual players would be interested in it. Also it was based on A Song of Ice and Fire, which is somewhat different in tone from MLP.

Y'know...combat could be avoided by making the 'life's calling' quests pretty non violent...like the cooking CM quest is just you trying to become the most famous chief in Equestria, with your own fancy restaurant. It's about learning to cook and building your business, not fighting.

[up] Yeah, the only type of job where confrontation could involve violence is if you chose to be a guard.

and even then, I bet most missions would involve either doing errands for your boss and chasing down perps (most would surrender upon being caught)

I imagine a modified version of the World of Darkness system might be workable. Tweak some of the (ir)relevant stats, and transplant it into the new setting. Something like that.
you will go to the paper towns and you will never come back

[up][up] Yeah the law pony one is one of the most action oriented quests, and even that is you investigating for clues and chasing the perps...who surrender when captured.

@L Mage: Well I don't really recall it all that well, but there would be Prestige Points to show how well you were respected in your local society. You'd spend a lot of time finding out secret information which you would then be able to apply to put pressure on others, getting them to do what you wanted. I was planning on a sort of conversation system much like rpg combat systems, where all of the participants got a turn every round, and you could use all sorts of different ways of influencing others: charm, intimidation, bluffing, etc. There would be methods of planting subtle meaning into apparently ordinary conversation, allowing you to convey threats or promises to perceptive people while stating nothing you could possibly be incriminated for. Also there would be a system for using drama to get people on your side, like extended metaphors or a compelling demonstration.

There'd be different reputations towards different social orders, reputation based on your actions and reputation based on your personality, all sorts of complex stuff. But like I said, I never actually got started on it, it was mostly a bunch of cool ideas I had in the shower. But my players would never go for it.

@Apple: My idea for non-violent combat was that all the enemies were discorded, so you used mind attacks to break the hold over them. Although I guess physical attacks could weaken their resolve, but it seems odd to punch someone and then tell them that they're a good person inside.

But yeah, essentially Talking the Monster to Death with magic, or something.
