You know, whenever I see an ending like this the fridge horror always sets in that the baddie is going to get loose again eventually with no one to stop them. Though I suppose it is possible that ponies are immortal, or being attuned to the elements makes you immortal.

Ah well, at least Discord is awesome so when he gets free it won't matter much.

I'm not sitting through a 10 minute video of some guy discuss a controversy over a character's name. Is this the jist of the video? Taken from the post on facebook.

According to you, Derpy is a Mentally Disabled Pony. I lack the grounds to prove you otherwise, so I'll just agree to it. By getting rid of Derpy from your show, you are saying "Mentally Disabled Ponies Don't Deserve To Be In Our Show!" This is bigotry, and is incredibly offensive to mentally disabled people. Don't censor Derpy.

Or, you could say Derpy isn't a mentally disabled pony, in which case, there's no need to censor her in the first place. Don't censor Derpy.

Either way you look at it, you've lost. Derpy deserves to stay, on the grounds of political correctness.

Okay, so she stays, but do we name her Derpy or Ditzy? I dunno who said that Derpy was offensive, but going by dictionary definitions, Ditzy is FAR more offensive. A ditz is someone who is disorganized and lacking in concentration. A derp is simply a mistake that was made.

Derpy implies that it can be fixed, and Ditzy implies that it's an ingrained part of her personality and cannot ever be undone. Which is more offensive here? Ditzy. As a result, her name should be Derpy.

No matter how you look at it, Derpy deserves to be a My Little Pony character, and keep her name. And I proved that using common sense and dictionary terms. This is not my opinion, this is a fact.

I'm going to play a little devil's advocate here, but what dictionary definition are you using? "Derp"

doesn't have an entry on dictionary.com, while "Ditzy"

says its slang for silly and scatterbrained...which is what we always imagined Derpy as. A silly pony.

Also, where is this promised "truth" behind the controversy? I'd like to know what's going on, bur right now all we have are rumors.

Either way, its really a non-issue. They're not gonna remove Derpy, at worst they'll redub the scene with Dash calling her "Ditzy Doo", which I'll have you know really was one of her in studio nicknames

before the brony phenomenon kicked off. And no one's stopping us from calling her Derpy if that does happen. Have people stopped calling a certain green unicorn Lyra because her toy is called Heartstrings?

Seriously, people need to chill and realize nothing horrible is happening to their precious Derpy. Its just a name.

EDIT: Yes, I know I shouldn't be continuing controversy discussions but I wanted to get that off my chest.

No, but if she has a canon name I'm of the mind that they should unless the canon name doesn't make sense. But I admit that that is another topic entirely.
