Ginger, Twi was once defeated by accidentally tying herself to a tree. I'm pretty sure AJ could lasso her up so long as she got the drop on her.

@Ginger: I'm pretty sure they could as well.
Just to point out with the Ursa Minor: she had to put it to sleep before she could move it someplace else. I'm guessing that holding something that's actively fighting you is a fair bit more difficult than an inanimate object or someone that's allowing themselves to be levitated. It's also implied that even then, she pretty much exhausted herself just doing that, so it's not like she can hold stuff with her magic indefinitely.
Add in the fact that she sucks at responding to situations that she hasn't already planned for, and I think the other cast members could take her out relatively easy. Just run Pinkie or Rainbow as a distraction and have AJ lasso her from behind or something.

That battle between Nightmare Moon and Celestia must have been something to behold. If any pony could throw statues at relativistic speeds it would be them. That would be a true display of combat magic.

@Badwolfwho Oh, no doubt. It's one of my favourite things to imagine.

Truly epic, and yet, completely tragic.
The best kinds of battles, really.

I always (for the sake of drama) like to imagine that when Celestia used the elements on Luna they STARTED to change her back to normal, but when it became clear that it wasn't going to work Celestia changed tactics.

What really happened was that Luna tried to dodge the Elements of Harmony by teleporting to the moon, but the beam followed her and purified her, but then she was stuck there. 1000 years later she's so pissed that Nightmare Moon takes over again, giving her enough power to leave.

Crowfall: Great, now you have me picturing Luna the Lonely Astronaut.

That's always been one area in which I've disputed on the whole NM thing. While I think it did make her slightly stronger (and make her spells more darker), I don't think being evil gave her a MASSIVE power boost. It was more a change of mental states if anything.
She wasn't lonely

If anything I would argue that NMM is weaker then Pure!Adult!Luna, but not by much hence why Celly had to use the Eo H.

I think Luna is as strong as Nightmare Moon, it's just when she's in the persona of Nightmare Moon she doesn't hold back.

Exactly! She just didn't hold back.
... still think Celestia beat her in a straight up brawl

Of course the one concession that Nightmare Moon would have made would be not to fight Celestia near the statue of Discord. Maybe that's why Discord is in the gardens of Canterlot. Who would dare attack Equestria if doing so would release Discord?

....feels like Dragonball all over again.
And all those lesser Ork species are pretty damn ugly...
I suppose Fluttershy might adopt a squig. They're sort of...cute.

Oh, I could so imagine NM losing it when she realizes that Celestia is STILL holding back on her.

Had a funny thought of a bar room brawl now.

Except apparently no one knows that fighting in front of his statue releases him, otherwise Cheerilee would have stopped the CMC immediately. Using Discord as a precaution only works if people know about it.
Aside from that, Celestia flat out says that the Eo H being under new management is what caused his release, not the fighting.
