I think Fluttershy mentions being a year older than Pinkie at some point, but that's all we really know. She definitely seems to be the most mature of the bunch though.

Yeah, we have no idea what the ages are. I think that Fluttershy is probably older than most of the rest of the cast as she's the only pony in Cutie Mark Chronicles to have that lanky body type, which implies that the other ponies are around the same age.

Rarity is perhaps part of the eldest the crowd she likes to hang out isn't exactly young and I don't think canterlot ponies would hang out with her if she was very young (see fancy pants).

Don't forget that in The Cutie Mark Chronicles, Fluttershy's filly design is considerably taller and lankier than the other characters, who all have the same body type as the CMC.

My estimation is that Fluttershy is the oldest of the girls, and Applejack is the youngest.

I don't honestly mind if anyone spoils me on this series. And your response tells me I'm not entirely off, anyway. So it's a humanized Twilight from a different episode where she goes wonky or something.

Also yeah come to think of it I guess AJ and Rarity also strike me as older than the rest with Twilight being about in the middle.

Another reason why Applejack was afraid she'd lose her farm was due to all the losses and damages accrued over the last season and recently. Between the parasprites eating the farm infrastructure, the failed attempt at making profits from the Gala, the building of another new side-barn, Spike stealing her crops, and the money they're clearly saving to get Granny Smith a new hip, they were desparate to get the profits from Cider Season to tide them over until the next major season.
