Instead, Dash had to beat Pinkie to it - so I like to think that Dash and Pinkie (and Ponyville) learned the real lessons in this episode. (Aside from 'the Apples are amazing'. =D)

I think Rainbow never asked Pinkie because she failed to apply Hanlon's Razor. That and Dash being Dash she just had to beat her to the front.

All that being said Dash was still there to comfort Pinkie when she was crying despite her anger at the beginning of the episode. Kind of surprising.

I think that on large this is just the two characters biggest flaws: comepetivness (RD) and oblivity (PP) feeding into one another.

Problem is: Pinkie always ends up on top, and probably wouldn't mind if she lost (THAT is the kicker for me). There's no way for me to win

Dash is a very impulsive character. She doesn't really think things out in advance. When things go wrong, she never has a back-up plan.

I should just note that one of the things I liked most about this episode is that we finally got one that focused on a particular character and portrayed them almost entirely positively. Having the town as a whole learn the lesson rather than the cast is a pretty interesting twist on the whole idea.

I just wish SOME kind of karma would hit Pinkie. SOME kind. But no, she's completely and utterly immune to it (because she has no malice)

It's... frustrating! Like there's nothing you can do. Like an endangered animal is living in your house and being disruptive, but you can't do shit because it's protected
