One of the more interesting things about this episode is that it shows that electrical technology is explicitly magic powered. It certainly opens the door for some interesting stuff in the future.

@Fallen: Thanks. I'd like to take a look at it when you get it written. Writing all these things has actually been pretty helpful in terms of hashing out my thoughts about stuff. I've definitely gotten a lot better at sorting out personal preference from objective problems because of it.

It can still get a bit aggravating when she gets away with it though. Being a jerk and getting an appropriate response is one thing, being a jerk and being treated normally is different. I actually would have liked if RD would have told Pinkie how annoying it was or something.

@Librarian. Outside of some obnoxious Pinkie-ness in the beginning, and finding the "Dash no get Cider" running gag more depressing than funny the longer it went on, I loved the episode

Yeah, I think that's because "being a dick" implies a certain level of awareness that you're annoying other people. If you don't know you're inconveniencing somepony, you can't really be blamed for it. The thing with Pinkie is that she qualifies anyway because she knows there's a limited amount of cider and buys an absurd amount anyway. There's no way that she's unaware that she's causing quite a lot of ponies to not get anything.

@Red yeah, but that's never really the FOCUS, and she rarely notices that other people find her annoying.

It just feels like, nothing bad happens to her unless it's the POINT of the episode, if that makes any sense? Her less obnoxious displays feel somewhat token.

That's true enough, Ginger, and I definitely get what you mean. Despite all of that, though, I do like Pinkie. =) She never means any real harm, and Dash never did think to ask Pinkie not to buy all the cider (or to buy some cider for her). I'm not saying Pinkie's blameless, but there was no real harm done in the end, and I imagine Pinkie will be more giving with her cider in the future. =)

@Ginger: Yeah, I think one of the main issues with Pinkie's character is that Rule of Funny lets her get away with stuff that the rest of the cast couldn't do without being called out.

If she's truly oblivious, I wouldn't blame her, but I think in this case Pinkie really needs to think about how her actions are affecting everyone else. I mean, she shouldn't need another pony to tell her not to hog all the cider.

Eh. Pinkie shouldn't have gotten so much but I'm sure if Rainbow asked Pinkie would have shaed some of hers/let Rainbow camp out with her that way Rainbow could get cider as well without being disappointed every time.
