Finally saw it. OK:

• Let's get the big thing out of the way...Derpy is canon. I must say, I am actually suprised and slightly disapointed by the choice of name...and they went down the clumsy, slightly dim route (which is Ok, and to be expected I guess) but apart from that...she seems like a cute pony. But this is the first time I've actually doubted the creator's choices...shame.

• Big Mac...ya big soppy soft bastard ya! And AB in AJ's hat...AJ herself...god I love the Apples!

• Pinkie...I don't care what the general opinion is...I loved her in this episode! The lip bit...giving that pony cake...toilet bit...the conveyor belt...angry Pinkie...just everything. I laughed my ass off and I loved it!

• All in all, I liked this episode...it's far from perfect...but seriously, I thought it was pretty good.

There are 3 ponies in that clip whose mouth movements match the word "muffins". Derpy is one of them.

@Keg: It's the difference between "a bit slow on the uptake" and "IQ of a sausage". Derpy struck me as being mildly dim, but not a complete idiot or mentally disabled.

I'll get started on it this afternoon, hopefully. I have to finish up school work. Would have started already, but I had to help my dad shovel the snow around the apartment building.

So am I the only one who didn't care for Big Mac's manly tears? I mean, it's great that he's sensitive and I like that, but it just seems a bit too out in the open for him. He's a stoic in every other respect, I would have expected him to play it closer to the chest here.

@Jteeth: I suppose... I'd just only ever seen her as airheaded, not actually dumb. It just... bugs me that everyone loves her so much because she's stupid. Even setting aside her wall-eyes as not actually being indicative as stupidity, that bothers me a little.

@Blue What's with everyone assuming that I'm suddenly going to accept Pinkie's obnoxious attitude just because the show admits that she's annoying?

You guys talk like that was my only problem with her. And by this point you should know that that's not the case.

Ginger, I don't assume anything about you. I don't understand you at all. I just figured that, regardless of how you felt about the episode over all, you might have drawn a tad bit of comfort from that fact. And hey, I wouldn't have asked a question if I thought I already knew how you felt.

@Kegi The tears were a neat touch, and honestly, any of his normal reactions to things would have been incredibly inappropriate for the situation.

And yeah, I see Derpy as clumsy but very well meaning. Of course, every fandom known to man can Flanderize a character into a bumbling idiot, and this one is no exception.

You know, with Pinkie's lip bit, I half-expected a caption saying "Rule #18: Limber up", Zombieland style.

@Ginger: In their defense, you did say at one point that one of the reasons Pinkie bugged you was that she got away with being crazy and insane when other cast members wouldn't have been able to, and the fact that her antics were held to a different standard than the rest of the cast was an issue. Unless I'm misremembering and someone else said that, in which case you can ignore me.

Also, I don't think that they're saying you need to just accept it an not be bothered at all, just that "Pinkie is annoying and the other characters treat her as such" is a step up from "Pinkie is annoying but nobody reacts that way".

All I'm saying about this Pinkie arguement is...I am tired of it.

@Blue Honestly, I might've drawn some comfort from that fact had Pinkie's obnoxiousness not been weaponized the way it was against my favourite character. and had her obnoxiousness actually be the CAUSE of problems (which she is then called out on) rather than solutions.

Also, If I'd found her antics even the slightest bit funny I probably wouldn't have minded.

Pinkie almost inglehoofedly ruined this episode for me. That has NEVER happened before

@Lurker: I see your point, but there were still ways to show he was sad without actually resorting to tears. Like, even just a shot of him lowering his head and looking a bit sad would have been enough, I think, not a full shot of him sniffling. I suppose it wasn't that bad, It's just something I would have handled differently, I guess.

This. We all know Ginger's stance on the issue, so we don't need to be informed of it over and over again at every opportunity.
