Well, I'm going to have to say I really liked this episode. A lot. My main points:

1) My mouth was agape at the whole Derpy scene, and it was hilarious. The voice was cute IMO, and for a short scene they actually managed to characterize her quite well. She really does just want to help. I never cared about which name she got, so I'm fine there. You all should have seen it coming though with her name being used on the Facebook page and such.

2) I was watching Pinkie closely this episode mostly because I wanted to see if her deepened characterization from the last episode stuck. I'd say it has. She's still silly, but it's not ignored by others (and is even used to their advantage) and she actually shows a range of emotion, from concern when AJ didn't come back to pure fury when she broke the Pinkie Promise. I mean, when, outside of being in "crazy mode" in Party of One have we actually seen Pinkie angry? I was delightfully surprised.

3) Like Ginger pointed out earlier, the conflict comes from AJ's honesty. She promised to bring home money, so she did everything she could to try and bring home money after losing the competitions. Her pride kept her from telling them the details until she had to money to pay off her perceived debt from the promise. Now, the lengths to try and get her to talk about it was a bit much, but I chalk that up to this being a cartoon, and it was pretty humorous.

4) The chase scene was just awesome, so yeah.

Looks like I'm in the minority here though...

I know, this episode has been growing on me as well. Still not one of my favorites, but there's a lot in there that I missed on the first watch.

It's growing on me too, but I don't think it'll ever make it to more than a meh. Granted, everything is sort of meh right now. You'd think a nice bit of pony would have helped with that, but I guess the thread wasn't exactly in good shape either this morning.

I liked Pinkie as well. "Catch me Rarity" was such a subtle line, I loved the interaction.

I'm just enjoying the ep for what it is :D Poor Rarity gets abused again this episode.

You know what? I really don't feel like dealing with your drama today. I'm dragging my sick ass back to bed.

I'm on the fence with Pinkie this episode. She was entertaining (the cherry conveyer belt was hilarious), but the whole "Let's annoy AJ until she cracks" just rubbed me the wrong way. It felt like Pinkie was trying too hard. Still better than her treatment in other episodes though, they at least acknowledged that she was being annoying and made it a plot point. Yeah, she was annoying, but at least the other ponies reacted appropriately.

@Ginger: It's fine if you don't like Pinkie, but that doesn't mean you need to post it every time somebody comments about how they liked her in this episode. It almost feels like you're trying to keep other people from enjoying it.

Yeah, Pinkie has been much worse before. And here, she was actually part of the solution, not the problem.

I liked the scene. It took a trait of Pinkie (she can be annoying) that was established in previous episodes, and weaponized it.

@Bad No, she was more ANNOYING here. I think I dislike furious Pinkie more than hyper Pinkie.

Honestly, throughout that chase scene I just wanted to go all "Bear Jew" on her!

@Lurker but Pinkie being the solution is what I DESPISE!

@ Ginger: I found her more annoying in those two episodes but I can see why you'd dislike her more in this one.

You think she was more annoying here. You can't just say "this character sucks in this episode" because you personally dislike it. Granted, I agree that she had some pretty annoying moments, but again, I think it's mitigated by the fact that she was treated as annoying, rather than having her act annoying and be treated normally.

... just because a character is supposed to be annoying doesn't make it NOT annoying.

You're SUPPOSED to be annoyed by the characters in most slasher films nowadays, and that trait only serves to weaken the films.

Relive it or not, one persons annoying can be another persons hilarious. pinkie pie is insanely funny to me. maybe not to you, and that's fine, but it's okay if other people like pinkie and you don't.
