Well, Mousa, I want you to pretend for a moment you do not have the tumblr. I want you to look at it and think to yourself "would I enjoy this? Why wouldn't I?"

That's the best advice I can give you, when it comes to those artist moments.

[up][up][up] Hear this, Mousa! I haven't even fucking TOUCHED kegi's blog! Nor do I intend to. I enjoy posting questions to YOUR blog. I enjoy getting answers from YOUR blog. I love hearing YOUR interpretation of things!

Don't quit on us like this. Not after putting so much effort in. Don't be like me.

If I'm so danged funny why can only attract the attention of a small group of friends as always, that's always how it is. When given the opportunity to be displayed prominently among others I am rendered nonexistant. And how is Kegi doing so well?

You know what, forget about it, I'll forget about it. 40 overnight means nothing to me. It's only art, I really should just relax.

And Ginger, you really should check out Kegi's stuff, he's excellent and rather skilled.

[up] That doesn't matter. Okay, I have seen some, and it didn't interest me. I got attatched to YOUR world. YOUR interpretations of the characters.

He's already godly enough he doesn't need someone like me

...ok, I'll tell you why.

—The art is cleaner

— Less obvious scan marks

—the coloring is less smudged

—the text is typed, thus making it easier to read,

—each picture looks like it has a certain amount of effort into it, and doesn't look like a quickie version of the character.

— the poses tend to be more complex, and less cartoonish

—the pictures are less complicated, so it doesn't feel like there are too many things going on at once.

There.

Any other tough questions you would like me to answer?

There's a different element to it than that.

I write in addition to drawing. In a lot of ways I think I'm a better writer than artist. But do I get a lot of traffic? Well, no. And here's why:

Feedback is the first thing I ever wrote. Compared ot what I can do now, it's awful. It remains the most popular thing I've written for one reason: It's a shipping story with a popular character. The fandom is fickle. They like what they like, and not much else.

You're working with material that not a lot of people like. I'm working with material that a lot of people really like. There may be a few issues with polish, but in the end it's largely because of the subject matter. That doesn't make one of use better or worse.

I don't want to sound like a dick here, but I think the simple fact is there is a lot you could do to improve your art. A lot of artists get complacent, thinking that simply practicing and drawing a lot will make them better. Practicing a lot is definitely important, but you have to push your boundaries if you want to improve. Try drastically different techniques, and work on your technical skills.

Start drawing from life, this is a really huge way to improve your self. No matter how cartoony your style is the result will be better if you're used to thinking in 3d, as though you were drawing realistically. From what I've seen of your art Mousa, I would suggest a much slower, more deliberate approach. Before drawing each limb or section of the body, pause and really think about it, picture it as a three dimensional image, and how that would look from the perspective given.

I used to be an artist, but I gave up because I improved much too slowly and it took too much time away from my writing. However I learned a whole lot from listening to skilled artists, seeking out advice, and trying new things. After giving up drawing for about a year, I decided on a whim to give it a try, but I did something different: I drew in public, and I just carefully studied the people around me before drawing, taking their arms, legs, etc as an example. Despite having not drawn in over a year, my art drastically improved just from this style. You can do this with yourself too. Study your own hands and arms and try and draw that. Draw your normal characters from perspectives you don't normally use, and think really hard about how it ought to look. Pay close attention to the skeleton beneath the skin and how it fits together, because that will determine whether your people are human shaped or fall into the Uncanny Valley.

Also try and draw as few lines as possible. A lot of artists strive for detail and end up making their art into a huge mess.

I'm not quitting, I just forgot to take my prozac this morning, Ill just carry on, spend more time instead of less time. It'll mean I'll eventually lose interest from being incapable of working at the speed of thought but at least I'll go out with quality.

In my personal opinion, Mousa can draw perfectly well. At least, when it comes to humans. I make no claims for his other things.

I think the problem comes down to the fact he's using a chibi form of this, which can make it amateurish (the sidemouths annoy me whether intentional or not), and most importantly, refinement.

Mousa can definitely draw. He has the technique down great. Or at least, quite well. What I see as killing him is a lack of refinement. Simple things to make the entire drawings look more, well, clean.

Coloring, which is a bitch, editing pictures even if not to color, but to get rid of smudges, inking, a nice scanner, all that stuff.

But I could be wrong. I can only speak for what I've noticed.

And I've been ninja'd. This was meant to be a response to Bluespade. Awesome.

Wow that's the most decent Pinkie song I've ever heard. Not my cup of tea, but I don't find it annoying like I do all of her other songs.
