I'm playing Fluttershy right now in a crossover RP and he's now helping out the Maverick Hunter to take out some Model W and is teamed up with Shepard, Samurai Jack, Donkey Kong, Shotaro aka Kamen Rider Joker, and the move version of Snake Eyes.

Pretty much all of the mane cast outside of Fluttershy are more on the active side, as far as I can tell. Truly reactionary characters are pretty rare, mainly because it's so hard to build good plots around them. Not that Fluttershy is entirely reactionary; she does have her own goals and such, it's just that whenever her desires conflict with others' she'd defer to them rather than press what she wants.

That's part of why I hope we get an episode where she learns to be a bit more assertive.

Think of it this way: Angel is practically Fluttershy's family. And she promised to spend quality time with him. You don't just break a promise with family that easily.

Fluttershy would have a Mercedes S600 Guard

I realize that Rarity didn't have a good excuse, but at the same time, I can totally understand why she declined. I mean, we've seen on several occasions that she sucks at dealing with children.

And I think all the cast's excuses (or even lack thereof) are more understandable when you realize that this is a spur-of-the-moment thing. It's not really even a "Can you watch the kids tonight?", it's "I need you to drop what you're doing right now". I have to admit that if somebody showed up on my doorstep with a request like that and I'd be reluctant to do it, even if I didn't have anything else scheduled.
