Gah. Someone beat me to posting it.

I seriously need to watch a new ep right now. :(

^^^If you actually like it, then what's the problem?
I've recently become interested in this series, initially just to see what all the hullabaloo was about. I find it to be a well-directed, well-animated, well-written show that while not without it's flaws and plot holes is worth following.
It intrigues me for another reason though, almost certainly unintended, and that's how a universe like that depicted here would work. I know kids shows rarely explore this, but I think that's a part of what invokes these questions is the lack of answers it gives us. They drop hints and scraps of information throughout the episodes, usually small things, details of what makes this world tick. How this society goes about it's business.
That's my angle. Do the workers at the Weather Factory have a Union? are the kinds of questions I'm interested in. Are any of you similarly invested?

Sorry, but not me. I've got my Not-Important-Detail Suspenders on. (Kinda like my Disbelief Suspenders, only different.)
I'm sure there's someone else, though. Pretty sure.
But apart, all we are is just a pile of mush and some crumbly dry mess...

A good writer puts in a lot of details in there story. But a great one gets a story from a single detail.

So, are you saying Equestria is a neighbor to
the Land of Ooo?
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great
I cut up one dozen new men and you will die somewhat, again and again.
@Kegisak: Correct! Now you can pretend you're part of a ommninous cult by chaning latin whilst you pony!

Already been posted.
Also, I agree with Gault. That's part of the appeal for me, too. I think the same thing could be true for a lot of other kids shows, but they can be otherwise uninteresting, so the question is less interesting.
And if you think the series takes place after the end (I don't, but w/e) then I think you could easily tie it into a crossover with Adventure Time. Equestria wouldn't be out of place in that universe (though elements of that universe might be out of place in Equestria, but that shouldn't be as large a concern).
Ruining everything forever.
That's not as cracktacular as my idea for a My Little Pony/Fraggle Rock crossover.

I've always had a habit of thinking way too much about the stuff that I watch (like watching fosters home for imaginary friends and wondering why the hell there weren't scientist studying the friends like, 24/7). I hadn't actually though too hard about the economy of Equestria, except fro wondering How Twilight would pay for her sandwich in 'The Ticket Master'...but I did find myself unconsciously psychoanalyzing Trixie after watching 'Boast Busters' a second time.
