I woulodn't say that the episodes are really formulaic, save for the constant moral letter. but that's mostly a Once an Episode thing, so I don't think it really counts.

A few ofthe more clumsy episodes are a bit cliched, but even then it manages to pull itself a good one, for the most part.

If it's any consolation Ginger, I love debating with you and I think you're good at it. When you're not yelling.

Oh yeah, inconsistency is definitely a problem. And the fact that each episode is meant to be watched in any order means that the crew isn't allowed to do much in the way of callbacks/character development. Granted, they seem to be improving in that direction with season 2. I just wish Luna had more than a once a season appearance...

@Rhyme Beat: Mm, I'm not familiar with GIMP so I have no opinion on that. I was gonna say that if you don't have a decent drawing program you have to already be REALLY good to make something look right, but I don't know where GIMP falls in that regard. I'd suggest drawing on paper to start with. If you can, scan your sketches and import them into GIMP, then you can use the tablet to layer over them, effectively "inking" your pencil sketch.

Ginger, Having alot of minority opinions isn't a bad thing when these opinions are well formed. And your argument are. Besides, how can you know your opinion is any good if it has never been attacked? I'm a philospher, I argue all the time and love it when people have a differing opinion because if I can defend it I know its good. (note that defend doesn't mean change other persons opinion, just not have any holes in yours)

Yeah, me too. I don't even mind if the episodes are watched out of order, that still could be worked around...maybe.

There are actually a fair amount of callbacks and call-forwards in the series if you know how to look. I recently refined my timeline, for instance, and while I don't have all the episodes on there, there's a fair amount.

By comparison to other shows this one has a great contunity.

When I heard there was gonna be a superhero inspired episode starring Rainbow Dash, I braced myself for the best episode ever. Unfortunately it turned out rather average. Everything that wasn't Rainbow was great. The twist that the Mystery Mare was actually 4 of the Mane cast was wonderful. But Rainbow was...not herself. Her actions were very inconsistent. If being treated like a hero was enough to make her become an self-obsessed jerk and drop her IQ by about 50 points, then why didn't she start acting that way, after, oh, I don't know, helping to save Equestria from an evil God? TWICE?
