The next ep is Baby Cakes, right? I have high hopes for this ep, as Pinkie really really needs an ep where she mellows out. Like I say, she has potential to be a very sweet pony, but the writers don't seem to want to do this...

She's basically written 100% as a source of the sort of humor that little kids like, which I'm not a fan of. There's plenty of great humor in this show that can be appreciated by everyone, but Pinkie rarely does those sort of jokes. Honestly, I don't think there's anything wrong with the character, I'm just not the target audience here. Which is exactly the problem whenever I find something I don't like about the show. I feel like I can't really criticize this show, because the simple fact is, it wasn't made for me.

You find some common threads you can talk about. Or you debate rationally and try to keep yourself from flying off the handle. After all, difference in a few opinions hardly means all your views are irreconcilable.

Discuss the difference. Find a common ground on the point. From there, both of you work to refine your opinions, considering the opposite point of view.

Someone with a hugely differing opinion is the best person for you to talk to about the subject, because they may raise points that had never occured to you.
