Doubtful.

It just the usually Everfree funkiness. Though oddly enough, this episode seems to imply that if enough Earth Ponies got together and decided that they were going to "bring order" to the Everfree Forest, they probably could.

I was under the impression that Pegasi could not manipulate Everfree weather (I could be wrong), Earth Ponies on the other hand don't seem to have much problems with the plants though.

Well would need more then just EP's for that, would need Pegasi to take charge of the weather, and probly some unicorns for the strong magic as well as EP's for the plants.

that was more a trait of the actual trees themselves. I certainly think the E Ps helped though. Maybe their the only ones capable of growing them on non-everfree soil.

I never got that impression at all. The weirdness of the Everfree forest is 100% vital to growing these trees (and presumably other plants from there) properly. Taming the forest would essentially kill everything there.

Think about it. In order to use these trees, and prepare them, they had to embrace some INSANE shit

If that were true then they wouldn't have been able to grow them in Sweet Apple Acres, unless the "Everfreeiness" of the forest extends out much further then the forest proper.

As for the insane shit. That just means Earth Pony magic is Hoodoo.

What I meant is that growing the apples and harvesting them pretty much relies on observing the insane crap that's going on in the forest (the signs)

If they were to go in and completely tame the forest, it would kill the plant's life cycle. Even if they're growing zap-apples outside of the forest, these trees are still intrinsically linked to it.

I don't think it works like that. Magic remember. The forest works in strange ways, you can't force anything. The trick is in embracing the weirdness, not trying to tame it

The forest does have rules. Provable rules. They just don't know WHY they happen and they can't emulate them.

The allure of "it's magic, I don't have to explain it", is often to great for many a writer.

Don't assume that. I have always thought that the Pinkie Sense was dumb, and existed only as a one episode gag that the writers thought was to funny to pass up.

^That makes sense, though. The forest behaves consistently; they just don't understand it because it's not a sort of magic they can or want to study.

Stupid rules. I'd prefer it if the Timber Wolves howled when the Zap Apples begin growing because they started growing rather than that being explicitly what causes them to grow and things along that line.

I wasn't here when Pinkie Sense first happened. I dislike the concept of it.

But there's is a difference. The Everfree forrest, and magic as a whole in Equetria, DOES have rules, and could be explained given enough study. The fact that the zap apples behave the same way every year over and over means there is an underlaying order to them, just noponies took the time to figure out just what that order is, and what rules it operates by.

@ Bad, that IS how it works with the Timber Wolves, the howling is the first sign, becuase the wolves howl when the zap apples are about to bloom, what actaully causes them to start growing is the lightning.
