And that's why she has friends. They're her fallback.

The end of the world as we know it. Like weekends usually are, but more dire.
Mayhap the spells to "control the sun and moon" are really the power to change the spin of the planet and the orbit of the moon, respectively.
Both are ridiculously powerful forms of magic.
And apparently, both sisters are capable of either one, what with Luna being able to shut down Celesita's attempts to change the sun's path. Or perhaps the Equestrian moon can
absorb sunlight if it's full in the sky.

I have a message from another time...
I'm just disappointed i can't say anything about that subject.
well, don't worry too much, all that knowledge about folklore and literature hasn't turned out all that useful in real life.
May ≠ will. simple as that. Don't fret over what you don't know, you get worked up enough over what you do know to begin with.
@ginger: Star Swirl the Bearded and his present-day descendant of the same name.
I'm curious about what people think about fanthings that imagine things X years into the future. Can be far future, can be immediate future, whatever as long as it's beyond the current show's timeline. How likely is it for them to just go on their separate ways but still keep in touch?
How likely is it for them to just go on their separate ways but still keep in touch?
Depends on how long in the future you're asking about.
Eventually, though? Very definitely. People take their own paths in life, and rarely do they lead in the same geographical direction. Unless, for some reason, they explicitly plan it around that restriction.

I just don't like the implication that we may NEVER see another unicorn who's on Twilight's level
Actually... now that I think about it, the fact that Rainbow Dash didn't immediatly think of Twilight when the Mysterious Mare repaired the dam makes me think that that level of power isn't unique to her.
Maybe I just think of these things differently. I've always taken to heart the adage
"A great potential is a heavy burden"

This thought came to me awhile ago, but it bugs me some people joke, or even seriously, talk about Celestia being a troll/bad ruler while hyping up real jerks like Trixie like they're hot shit.
For 'X years into the future', I don't actually think there will be that much of a difference. Most of the girls already do what they want to do in life, and they all have their own homes; with the exception of Dash, who can commute, and Rarity, who might want to be in Canterlot, the girls are largely set for where they'll be and what they'll be doing in the future.
Now, as they find lovers and 'settle down', as it were, then I can imagine them growing slightly apart, but still keeping in very frequent touch with each other. I mean, even nowadays the girls don't always all see each other every day.
Can you think inside the chimney?
