Could a unicorn use a rope with only her tail? No, but a they could manipulate it better using magic.

Could a team of pegasi pull a thousand pound train hundreds of miles? Probably, if the the train were flying. A team of two can pull a flying moving van, and once you get a train up to speed momentum keeps it going.

If thats the case, then I'll let you give me an inspiring speech when I'm feeling down.

I suddenly imagine an earth pony battalion squaring off against a pegasus squadron air raid. All they have to do is conjure up a forest canopy and the pegasi lose their advantage.

Against a unicorn battlemage? Dash in, close the distance, and kick them in the face before they can finish the spell.

Don't bring up a battle, because people are invariably going to say that the pegasi/unicorns will win against th E Ps

Trains are a lot heavier than moving vans.

My own dad's van fully loaded weighs about 4 tons...your average passenger train weighs about 200 tons.

Exactly. If it comes down to a fight, Earth ponies win. Pegasi still need to get close to attack, and Unicorns need time to concentrate.

But Neuman, a Unicorn couldn'tpull that train, and a pegasi couldn't use the lasso. EP's can do both.

I don't really know what's going on in your mind, ginger (and I don't know you all that well, really), but for your own sake please consider, are you complaining for the sake of complaining? I mean, people are already saying awesome stuff that earth ponies can do, but I've only seen you saying that they are inferior. Not flashy does not equal inferior.

I'm sorry if I overstepped some boundaries, but it's not healthy for the thread to have to pick our topic carefully just to avoid certain triggers, especially ones that seem to be set off every other day.

I wouldn't complain if it didn't honestly feel to me like several of the other posters were intentionally trying to make the E Ps sound inferior out of spite.

Coal Hoppers can weigh 100 tons each...with a train of them strenching for over 5 miles...

You know, differing power levels is nothing new. Why is such a big deal being made of it? So earth ponies have overall less utility than Pegasi or Unicorns overall. What matters is each and every character on an individual basis. Judging a race is pointless. Applejack and Pinkie Pie are far more competent at their respective talents than most anypony else, and that's that. Doesn't matter what race they are, they have talents and utilize them.

Also, in unrelated thoughts, I want to see a ponyfied Sonic the Hedgehog crossover, as the image of Pony!Sonic racing Rainbow Dash at top speed sounds awesome to me.

That's just it, it doesn't sound to me like they're intentionally doing it, or even unintentionally doing it. Look at what kegisak wrote. If some of them are, then why not ignore them? It's just noise over the internet, it's only bad when you take it to heart and let it affect your mood.

That sounds so conceited. I mean this in the nicest way possible, but the world doesn't revolve around you.

People just have their own opinions and interpretations, and all.

@Ginger: Just because the earth ponies don't have a unique skill that the other ponies can't replicate doesn't make them inherently inferior. The pegasi and unicorns have unique skills, but they're so specialized that they suffer in other areas. E Ps might not have some big unique skill, but they have a much wider variety of skills and strengths going for them. Thing of the races as RPG characters; the unicorns and pegasi have a few unique skills but have crappy stats, while the E Ps have fewer skills, but much better stats across the board.

Also, when people start citing actual events from the show to disprove your points, you can't really accuse them of stacking the deck against the E Ps.

The other thing is that I don't think most posters are doing it out of spite; if they watch the show and think it looks like the E Ps are behind in the skill department, they have every right to say that.

In any case, I still don't know why you insist that the E Ps have to have a unique skill to be on par with the other races. They can make up for their lack of unique skills in other areas.
