Rainbow Dash is one of the best Pegasi though and even she can only best AJ in Forehoof strength.

That we've seen. Rainbow admires the Wonderbolts, they're probably better than her. Big Mac is a random farmer, it's unlikely he's the peak of Earth Pony Potential.

Ginger: It would still be foolish for Pegasi or Unicorns to attempt it anyway. It would be like humans deciding to run a farm with a trowel over a tractor when the output is supposed to feed hundreds.

Exactly. A top-form unicorn can probably match a mid-range earth pony (like Fancy Pants and Big Mac), but the vast majority of unicorns are likely rather scrawny and have low stamina. Pegasi have to have stamina to be able to fly very well, but being very physically strong would only hinder them, so while they might be able to match a mid-range earth pony, it's very unlikely they would want to.

@ Dhana: Celestia hasn't shown up and said that Rainbow Dash/Big Mac are the pinnacle of their respective species. Thus I'm assuming that there are better examples we haven't seen.

@ Red: Why use Fancy Pants? He's scrawny compared to Big Mac and Blueblood.

A pony Zodiac is about as accurate as the traditional Zodiac, which is to say it's not particularly accurate. It tags me as Applejack. While I do have shades of her personality (there's a reason I identify third most with her), I'm much closer to Twi.

OK, the play said that everyone needed food that only the E Ps could grow. E Ps are seemingly needed for plants to motivate themselves to grow, even they farm the land using normal methods involving tools.

Remember the seeds of truth? Who planted it? How long did it take to grow?

Appleloosa? An orchard established in the desert? In a year?

No, you know what EPS are? Living terraforming devices.

Add in superior strength (AJ the farmer is unquestionably the strongest, and even Pinkie can be strong when needed), and E Ps really are [[Awesome Yet Practical]].
