The problem is that it's hard to accuse RD of cheating when there were basically no rules. From RD's POV, it's more Loophole Abuse and Ain't No Rule than cheating. From Applejack's POV, the issue is that she thought it was obvious that RD wasn't supposed to fly. And RD seems to know that too, since she never used her wings until she realized that she was going to lose.

The only real way of fixing the problem would be to have defined the rules better at the start of the competition.

Yeah, I think we need to figure out where they're being dumped, in what way, and whether they keep their powers. If you take say, Twilight, and dump her in the middle of NYC with no magic, she's in trouble. Let her keep the magic, and give her some info first she might do okay.

RD using her wings circumvented the point of most of those events and there was physically no way for AJ to compete if RD used her wings.

Ginger, you are absurdly hypocritical.

Earth ponies have superior strength, endurance and stamina. They do not need to do any training to acquire that. Period. Deprived of their magic or wings any unicorn would never ever hope to compete with an earth pony in their field of competence.

You are basically saying that AJ should have won, fair and square, because that's what must happen if you happen to win Superpower Lottery.

The only real way of fixing the problem would be to have defined the rules better at the start of the competition.

The only real way would be to hire a judge that doesn't suck.

Has that been confirmed, Fran? I've never believed that. The only reason I think E Ps are generally stronger is because they USE their muscles for more things since they don't fly or use magic.

Even if they are (which I don't believe), then the contest should've been null and void from the start, since neither side would've been able to play fairly

Twilight was the best judge they could have picked for a contest with actual rules. This is little miss rules lawyer we're talking about here - she follows the letter, not the spirit.

Hm... well, being dropped in NYC with no money would be a bitch. They'd have nowhere to live, nothing to eat, and no way to get more money without stealing because no one would hire them and none of them can busk.

That's a rather bleak prognosis for them, unless they were somehow recognized by a kind-hearted brony with an empty room or couch.

Can we just agree that the issue with the Fall Weather Friends competition was that the rules were never actually stated? I'm getting sick of fighting about it when it's obviously going nowhere.

@Red: If they're really lucky they'll all get dumped right in the middle of BroNYCon. If that happens, they're good.

@ Fran all that does is illustrate the simple fact that the base physiology of the three types of ponies is so different that it would be an intense undertaking to create a competition in which they would compete against each other fairly. If not impossible. Most of the events in the iron pony event were just thrown together at random for seeming "athletic" without taking this into account. use of wings gave RD and unfair advantage, no wings gave AJ one.
