Pinkie's actually a pretty good example of what I'm talking about. If you take any given episode, she tends to be tolerable. The only episodes where she's gratuitously wacky are "Swarm of the Century" and "Luna Eclipsed", but other than that she isn't too bad. The thing is, when you take her cumulative antics over the course of the entire show, she looks more flat. She isn't entirely flat, but she looks like she has a massive inability to really mature much. And I think it isn't due to a problem with the character, but that the nature of the show requires the status quo be
maintained.
Well, you can enjoy anything when your standards are so low they're already met. But seriously, I think there's something to be said for not putting the show on a pedestal. Realistically high standards are fine, but "I expect every episode to be of Shakespearean quality" is only going to come back to bite you.
