My relationship with Pinkie is complex. My favourite member of the mane cast is AJ. My favourite character in the show PERIOD, is Trixie, and I think Gilda's one of the most human characters in the show.

That's what you need to know.

I honestly don't want you too, but I'm fully expecting you to hate me

I'm sort of in love with the way Pinkie Pie walks when she's happy....or trots...whatever it's called. Actualy, strike that I'm in love with Pinkie Pie in general. Still not big on Rainbowdash, she was sort of oblivious to how awful Gilda was being.

Gilda herself, can go die in fire. How she treated Fluttershy clinched it, prior to that she seemed realtively ok.

Also those where some of the most good natured and well recvied pranks I've seen on a cartoon, normally when prank wars happen in animation it almost always ends badly and with hurt feelings.

Stop expecting that everyone hates you, man. I'd make some sort of friendship bombardmant analogy, but frankly, it feels more like I'm trying to break through with an inflatable friendship mallet.

And I just keep swinging, and all I get is comical squeaks from the inflated plastic thing.

I think it's "bouncing". Or "skipping"

^^^That's the general reaction to Gilda, yeah. Despite the fact that Fluttershy herself would never wish anything remotely that bad on Gilda, and would be far more likely to forgive her.

Well okay then!

Ginger, look at it this way. She was written as an antagonist. The pisode was written with her in the wrong. Most people are simply reacting as they are intended to.

But you are different. You can see through to the characters beyond.

You are The One.

It's not that. It's that mage is reacting EXACTLY as I predicted. EXACTLY according to the worst case scenario. Down to the fact that FLUTTERSHY is what turned him against Gilda.

Odd, that. I'd expect people to react to Gilda popping pinkie's balloon first.

Well, then we're just going through layers and layers of people accurately expecting the worst-case scenarios. This is what I thought would set you off about his reaction.

Fluttershy's treatment was what clinched it, but being awful to Pinkie Pie (who can be annoying and was being invasive, but not malicous), as well as stealing, and mistreating Granny Smith didn't really help either.

It's just... I don't know.

LMage, I entirely respect your reaction. Gilda's written as an antagonist and she fulfills that role admirably, I must say. The fact that I personally like Gilda quite a lot - not for her actions in the episode, but for the personality I've extrapolated for her - has no bearing on your opinion, nor should it. =)

That said, though I don't suppose you're reading fanfiction just yet, you might enjoy my attempt at having Gilda earn her redemption for her actions in "Griffon the Brush-Off". Who knows?

(If I start getting annoying with the plugging every time this comes up, please let me know. I realize I can be a bit of a wonk about Gilda.)
