Yeah... I do know that feeling - where no matter how much you try there's always someone who's better than you without even trying. Can you imagine what Trixie must think about Twilight? I can never understand Twixie ships because Trixie would absolutely loathe Twilight. sure, Twilight studies, but when it comes to natural aptitude she's just got something Trixie never will. No matter how hard she tries, Trixie will never be as good as her.

I like to think that Trixie sort of builds a wall, in that case. She tells herself that even if she isn't talented, she's got a skill. She thinks that that skill counts for so much more than talent, because she worked for it. Like Zuko's speech about how he doesn't want to be lucky. I imagine she might actually look down on Twilight for being talented - but in her heart of hearts she hates it, and is insanely jealous.

Trixie really has potential to be an incredibly tragic figure, doesn't she?

Trixie does have real magic. In fact, she's the most powerful unicorn shown so far after Twilight.

Poor Trixie...they've got to put her back in the show.

I had this fic idea about a genuine fan of Trixie's who follows her around from town to town so he can watch her perform.

She might assume he's a stalker, at first.

One fanon theory I like is that Trixie was Celestia's student, but she was abandoned after Twilight's Power Incontinence.

@kegi That's one of the reasons I PREFER Trixie to Twilight. I automatically have a little contempt for those who're BORN better than someone else. Not that Twilight doesn't try hard. but as Celestia said there's no other unicorn with her kind of ability in Equestria

That is true.

I've seen some people on this thread call her Weak, but Skilled, but I don't think that is really true. I mean, Unicorn magic is actually supposed to be limited to whatever your special talent is yet we saw Trixie pull off a number of spells. Just because she is not Twilight does not mean she is weak.

Gilda reminds me of my uncle. That's why I love her.

I've known people who do bad things. That doesn't mean ALL they thinks about are bad things, or that they're incapable of having true friendships. I feel like Gilda's similar.

She won't accept Dash's friends out of pride, but I bet you she'd jump right in to help if RD was being attacked

Yeah Trixie is quite impressive by Unicorn standards. I mean, we've never seen Rarity use magic offensively for example, except to throw pillows at AJ.

I Agree. I guess I just don't care. I guess I didn't really develop a huge attachment to er or Trixie like everyone else has for some reason.

And you can hardly call Trixie weak, I mean come on, Twilight is hardly a benchmark she's like the Jean Grey of that world.

I get the sense that if RD was in trouble now, Gilda wouldn't rush to her rescue. She probably thinks she's been replaced by the Mane 6, which she has.

You reminded me of an idea I had...

all the mane 6 are kidnapped/captured/whatever, except for Dash, and she has to recuit a squad of minor characters to help her launch a rescue.

Gilda could be one of that squad (incidently, so would Mac).

Gilda strikes me as a "once a jerk, always a jerk" character. She might do something nice once in a while, but if somepony tries to make her be nice, she'd tell them to twist off (or words to that effect.)
