By the way, to me her name is "Annie Way", because she looks like Allie Way and Twilight says "Thanks, Annie Way" to her when she leaves the vet shop.

I'm kind of surprised how many people thought Rarity conned Spike out of his gem. The only thing I saw was that she liked the gem, was disappointed that Spike was going to eat it and couldn't hide it very well. Oh well, it wouldn't be the first time people interpreted ponies' actions in wildly different ways.

Agreed. Rarity doesn't seem to be the type to con her freinds. She probably wanted spike to give it to her, but wasn't purposely trying to make spike give it to her.

Fluttershy runs an animal shelter, basically. Naturally, she'll have had to pick up some skill in diagnosing and treating sick or injured animals, which we've seen her do in Bird in the Hoof.

Possibly the vet is just better specialized in animal illnesses. As in, can make a diagnosis faster (5 seconds or less), and probably knows all the rarer, more obscure diseases. Something like that.

Stop using "no harm, no foul" as a justification for this. Point is: The fact that the thought of taking the gem even entered her head in the first place is despicable enough, but actually ACTING upon it?!

You always assume the worst of protagonist so that doesn't surprise me.

I guess I can sort of relate to Rarity's situation, because I to have wanted something form someone and did a poor job of hiding it.
