You say that now, but once you watch it you will realize that, somehow, it does actually cater to your demographic with THE AWESOME MAGICAL RAINBOW SPARKLY AWESOME POWER OF FRIENDSHIP.

It is. Sort of.

It's more like Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, with the bonus that the leads aren't jerks. Really, it's adorable and genuinely funny.

Also, on the subject of the toys, I'll admit this: I'd never buy one, but I can't imagine anyone in the show's demographic not wanting them. This is a toy commercial done right. From the designs to the personalities, they really have an appealing cast here.

Now, now. Let's remember that the Care Bears regularly took on a psychopathic mad scientist, a centuries-old inhuman sorcerer, a fearmongering vampire, an alien star-thief, an ancient spirit of hate, and the Devil himself (and an evil chef. Actually, never mind the evil chef).

The G1 My Little Pony cartoon? Epic fantasy, way smarter and darker than its reputation. The current incarnation? Crisp, brilliant pacing, good humor - in short, a quality cartoon.

...The G3 incarnation, though, is mindless sugar as far as I can tell.

My entire family is confused by my newfound love of this show. My mom is especially confused at my idea of going to Toys 'R' Us on Black Friday to get the toys based around this show.

I just want to post this because Fluttershy is just so adorable.

I've shown this to my niece and nephew, they seem to like.

I find it funny that there are people that treat it's brand of cuteness as a plague that must be stopped.

I've seen a couple episodes and wasn't impressed. I might have liked it as a kid but now the anvilicious aesops are too distracting. Does every episode end with Twilight Sparkle lecturing about what she learned?

^Well, she's not really lecturing but dictating a letter to her mentor about what she learned since she supposed to be learning about friendship. Besides, how else would the kids (or adults, apparently) watching at home remember the lession of the day?
