Pinkie's past is like the Joker's. It's multiple choice. Since it's more fun that way

I have no proof to back that up, it's just what I like to believe since her story felt the most out of place to me

I just REALLY didn't like that story for some reason. It felt wrong. It sounded like a story Pinkie would tell if asked to come up with her own origin story on the spot. If ya get me?

okay, the STORY is 100% canon. In that she actually told it to somepony on screen. But whether or not it's TRUE? I don't like to think so

Speaking of Monty Python, anyone familiar with the Dirty Fork sketch? Because I could see something like that happening with Celestia, like if she was dining at Sugarcube Corner and she happened to mention that her plate had a speck of dust on it. The Cakes might react somewhat similarly to that sketch (as in, keep apologizing over and over and angsting loudly about how absolutely filthy and smelly the plate is), although hopefully no one would be killed. (maybe instead of stabbing themselves with the fork, one of the Cakes knocks themselves out by hitting themselves in the head with the plate)

The reason I said plate is because I'm not too sure how often ponies use utensils, if at all, although I think they may have shown up at some point in the series.

I think, though, it was hyperbole. Her family is still the same, and they still were farmers, but they weren't rock famers. They were actualy farmers, with grains or vegetables or something. And it wasn't bleak and gray all the time, just a little bit duller.

Pinkie was simply using metaphore to make a sotiring she didn't find exciting more dynamic.

Although, considering the CMC didn't seem to take issue with the whole 'rock farm' thing...

x4 I don't really consider Pinkie a discussable character, just because of her sheer ridiculousness.

One thing that's bothered me, why is Twilight acting like she was at the party if she was raised in Canterlot? She should at least know some manners.

You think she ever actually went to one of those parties? They were probably very high-society, and she was likely middle class in Canterlot.

alternatively, she is a university student, kinda sorta.

Does Twilight REALLY seem like the type who'd go to high society parties? (or hell, the type who'd GO TO PARTIES AT ALL)

Yeah, I'm going with a combination of that. We don't know if Twilight actually lived in that high-society part of Canterlot; she could easily be middle class and live in a suburb or something. Just because she lives nearby doesn't mean that she'd be part of that level of society. And she's really not the type that would attend parties anyway, at least not at the point where she was Celestia's pupil. She'd think the time was better spent studying. She's only recently loosened up to the point that she'd find any party enjoyable.

@CDRW: Knowing Celestia, she'd probably want to respect Twilight's privacy as much as possible by keeping her out of the public eye.

x8 I'd imagine her family is pretty well off, because it can't be too cheap to apply for Princess Celestia's school. So she'd probably have gone to at least one.
