No, the computer with the scanner is currently occupied, I'll need to wait and I'd rather not submit cruddy iPhone photos. When I said submit a progress report, I meant swiftly and awkwardly taking pictures with my iphone and throwing them up onto imageshack.

@Mousa: I saw a picture a while ago that suggested that Celestia's mane should be reminiscent of the Aurora. I realize that would be very hard to draw, but something to keep in mind when you go for realism. =)

The mane cast was acting fairly strange. More uncouth than usual if you ask me. I don't remeber AJ doing any gardening at the Gala. It's like Machiavelli's Prince, twisting and slightly misrepresenting the characters' actions for the sake of argument, telling a story differently for the sake of an Aesop. Something there has been too much of in this season, as of now. The first season served to define characters and fill in the blanks left by the opening. This should constrain this season to only work on the blanks that are left, or build upon what was drawn, not twist and bleach it for the sake of one-off jokes and lessons. Twilight dancing horribly was very heartwarming though. She's really outgrown herself

You should expect some variation between character depictions, if only because different writers are bound to have different ideas of how certain characters work.

As far as characters being OOC for the sake of jokes/lessons this ranks pretty low on the list. I can honestly see the Mane six being a little thoughtless about going to a more formal party, especially if they just came from an incredibly informal party. Also this is a comedic cartoon, you should expect some exaggeration when ever a joke or any kind of humor is involved (though I admit that even that has its limits).

And yes Twilight dancing is adorable.

What you missed? Darkness, but not of the 40K, Sin City, Hobo With a Shotgun kill-maim-burn kind. More like Coraline sort of darkness. Which is much worse in many ways.

I don't know, their dialogue seemed a little forced. They felt less like characters and more like plot devices.

I'd like more works to follow the Pulp Fiction, ever-character-is-a-protagonist-in-their-segment perspective.

@Mio: This basically sums up what I thought of it. Their personalities were exaggerated a bit, but not so much that I think it hit OOC territory. If they had gone straight to the garden party it would have been odd, but given that they got all riled up partying with friends first, I think it kinda makes sense.

I wouldn't say they were acting OOC. They were just in high spirits because it was Twilight's birthday.

It's like a knife, you use it to scratch the paper off. It's what you use when you don't have an eraser, or don't want to use one. It needs careful use, lest you destroy your canvas, but in the case of a photocpy, where the ink is very shallow, you can use it to great effect.
