I am a little displeased by the fact that with every episode my enjoyment is slightly lessened by the fact that I can always think of some other things they could have done. e.g. why doesn't anyone realize who Twilight is or why isn't Twilight's city kid origin ever brought up again. Not complaining, really, since none of the episodes have made me glance at the clock, so that's good. I suppose I should learn to stay away from spoilers for this show - knowing that Twilight and co are going to show up does detract from the experience, for once.

Maybe it means Fancypants is the "mayor" or something similar for Canterlot. He only governs over Canterlot, while the Princesses govern over all of Equestria.

Everytime I hear Fancypant's name I always think of Twilight's doll from Lesson Zero. Actually on the FiM wiki it states that the doll was her favorite toy while she was growing up but I always figured she was lying about that. Would you want your favorite doll to be torn apart by three fillies who, according to Twiligh, would esperatly want the doll?

Well, Twilight isn't exactly a celebrity; she may be Celestia's student, but that doesn't mean everypony would recognize her.

The real question is why nopony seems to recognize any of the cast now that they've saved the world twice.

I'd say she was just a teensy tiny bit OUT OF HER FUCKING MIND AT THAT POINT!!!

Both disasters and their resolution happen in Ponyville. If the Ponyvillians treat them like regular citizens (are Ponyvillians aware that they are heroes, come to think of it?) then Canterlot snobs are even more unlikely to recognize them.

Maybe Celestia neuralizes everypony MIB style after they're done celebrating. so that the Mane Cast can still lead normal lives.

By the way: When Fancy Pants compliments Twilight's birthday dress, the rich bitch says she wants one, and her husband says: "Let's get two."

It's meant to imply he thinks his wife should have two copies of that dress, but to me it sounded like he wants one for himself as well.

You know, the first time the Mane Six saved the world they were out in the middle of a spooky forest, and the celebration afterwards was more for the return of Princess Luna. The second time was in Ponyville while the world was all chaotic. Also, there were no high society ponies at the Star Wars-esque celebration, just some of our favorite common background ponies like Derpy and Lyra.

It is still kinda odd that the Mane Six seemingly aren't famous. On the other hand...would you recognize a Medal of Honor recipient if you ran into them in person? I certainly can't name one off the top of my head.

@Crowind: The Discord thing most definitely had wider effects, and the celebration at the end is pretty obviously a national thing. The pilot is more low key, but given that Luna just showed up after a millennium of absence you'd think somepony would ask question.

^^Exactly. And even when she lived in Canterlot, Twilight was a borderline recluse; her classmates knew her, but I doubt anyone else really would.

^Celestia doesn't strike me as the type to neuralize anyone. Also, why the hell would she even throw a celebration and announce that the Bearers were now heroes if she was just going to mindwipe everyone there? It'd be easier just to do a localized strike on Ponyville rather than making it a nationally-publicized event.
