Well, here's my fanon:

SP's are dependent upon water to live. An SP leaving water is like a surface pony going underwater. They'll only survive for around 20 mins best.

So, maybe a wet wetsuit would be required too?

They also need the water to talk. If a SP tries to speak with their head out of water, they just make unintelligble noises.

Based purely on what we've seen on the show so far, I prefer Celestia as well, but I think Luna has a lot more character potential. Celestia is most likely going to remain fairly static, since they can't really go altering the mentor figure too much, but Luna is already learning and changing. She also is more likely to have meaningful interactions with the mane cast. Sure they're both princesses, but they haven't been looking up to Luna all their lives, so they can be more normal around her.

Both Celestia and Luna are wonderful.

Luna is adorkable, complex, appeals to those who like "darker" characters, and voiced by Tabitha St. Germain.

Celestia on the other hand, as Ginger pointed out, is simply magnificent. In every way.

How long would a seapony ins a "Wetsuite" be able to stay on land? I mean taking the Oxigen and such out of the water alone isn't the issue I've yet to see anyone address the issue of pressure diffrences when this is brought up.

My ability to not swallow the fandom's precious shy and full of sadness Luna allowed my fun to be doubled with this wonderfully commanding and awkward princess that only seeks love. Almost feels like Twi with more power and seriousness.

I think we might get an appearance in the "Hearth's Warming Eve", if the Princesses attend the play or we get some flashbacks.

At the very least, someone will have to be Luna in the play. Maybe Rarity?

They could maybe get an hour or so,

but I wouldn't worry too much about the pressure differences. This is a toon 'verse...nopony is destroyed by high G forces for example.

Edit: Btw, I thought that the fans handled Luna pretty well...and Large Ham Luna is so so much better than Woobie Luna.
