@Rhyme Beat: I'm tentatively interested, but I have so much other stuff going on at the moment that I'm reluctant to get involved in anything else.

As far as the pilot goes, the main problem is the Eigen Plot, compounded by the fact it lacked the character interaction of most of the rest of the series. The thing I like most about the show is how the characters respond to one another, which just doesn't happen much in the 2nd part of the pilot. It just seems a lot more formulaic compared to the later more organic episodes.

@Episode 2: I see the two two-parters as one big episode each, same with Kill Bill and Deathly Hallows. I never really saw the point of criticizing the individual parts of those, to be honest. They will by definition be uneven (like Ep. 1 introducing all the characters and Ep.2 having the quest). As far as "disappointing" goes, I have to admit, the thing that still disappoints me about the two-parters is the "waste" of those awesome villains (especially Discord!).

That's the main reason I'm willing to cut the pilot some slack; it had to introduce over half a dozen characters well enough that plot could work. Doesn't change the fact that I don't think it's as entertaining as later episodes, though. I must admit that I didn't really notice the quality difference until I went back an rewatched the first season.

That may be true, but doing stuff stuff like flagging Youtube videos just to piss people off is still just more being a douche than anything else.

I would say this is just being a douchebag, not a troll.

Trolling is posting something to provoke RAEG, be it inflammatory or derailing.

Going onto a website for anti-racist black people and posting KKK quotes there is trolling, but low quality. Real trolling is posting a message that would provoke those people into posting, for example, anti-semitic comments.

(I actually successfully trolled antifa community into posting racist anti-Caucasian posts.)

I brought it up because the subject of "trolling" was brought up in the form of "the trolls are flagging videos on youtube again", which prompted somebody else to ask why people would enjoy doing stuff like that. I believe the technical term for that kind of behavior is griefing. That said, I think being a douchebag and being a troll have some overlap.

Anyway, back on topic:

Maybe we should have a poll to decide this question once and for all: Who is the single best pony according to TV Tropes?

Everyone votes once, and states a first, second and third choice. If your first choice doesn't make it, your vote goes to your second choice. If your second doesn't make it either, the vote goes to the third choice. I'll count all the votes next Sunday evening/Monday morning, and then we'll have our answer.

Aw, but then I have to have a tie breaker between my three contenders for third and they're all really close anyway (except Twi, whom keeps slowly pulling farther ahead of the pack, millimeter by millimeter). So, yes, I also believe Twi is bestest pony. As for the rest... urgh, gonna need a few to think.

Why not rate the Mane Six from 1-6 with one being the best and six being the worst. Then tally up all of the votes and the Pony with the lowest value is the winner?

Alright, let's just do this for the heck of it. We'll see if it catches on. My vote:

#1: Applejack
#2: Rarity
#3: Twilight Sparkle

Because people have an easy time deciding who they like best, who they like least, but are troubled when asked about everything in between. This system is a compromise, where people get to give their favourite support, plus some support to those that they also simply like.

I'm definitely all for it! I'm just gonna go for my gut feeling of "Which pony makes me the happiest when I think of her/see her in an episode" or something like that.
