According to four seconds on Google, scientists use 'platypuses'.

Platypi is far more fun to say though!

@Pink Celebi: Thanks SO much for linking My Little Bloopers, it's awesome . Apart from the myriad of standard animation errors (which are always entertainingly presented), there's a lot of funny mistakes you don't realize at first in the show. Like when Twi is brushing her hair after her Zecora nightmare and her useless horn is revealed... which she had just used to levitate the brush ^^.

Oh, those TV guide thingies. We do not have a pleasant history together. Amoung other memorable screw-ups I have seen on those include one that states Mulan is set in Japan, and that Spider-man's real name in Peter Barker. Just last week a description for House read, "House's team tries to diagnose a patient; Wilson suspects House is hiding something." Here's another classic, apparently the Power Rangers "save Angel Grove from the evil Ivan Ooze" every episode!

I'm pondering SP colours whilst waiting for 40 pages of assignment to print.

Would the Hippocampi have varied tails like real fish? Like one like have blue and yellow scales, and another might be pure yellow.

I'd been calling the tails as coated with something similar to their fur, except flatter and harder, so I'd given them the same colour tail as the rest of their body.

Actually, you know what? I've actually written a description of one for a story, so why don't I just post that for future reference.

So yeah; basically I'd imagined it as the fur just fading into still, slek clumps. It comes off looking like scales, but they aren't. I'd been thinking of hippocampi more as dolphins than fish anyways, so they wouldn't really have scales...

Sea ponies seem like a nice idea but I'm guessing that they're going to be teetering on the edge of the uncanny valley.

I guess dolphins, seals, otters etc should be a point of referance....though Octoquines are an oddity, unless we say they tenacles are mammal like rather than octopus-y?
