A lot of her character arcs involve things not being what she thinks they are, or the fancy life that she thinks she wants not really being what she actually wants.

I would say the opposite, a lot of her character arcs involve her doing things we would never expect her to do.

Also, as always, the premise is simple, but the writing is pro.
