Like, we can't wrap it into a single
word , because each pothole will write out the entire name.
That kinda precludes any creative use of the trope link, in favor of blasting one percieved abuse of the old name for the trope.

Lampshaded Double Entendre is supposed to be for in universe lampshading, so potholing regular use of the phrase actually is abuse.
And like I said, you can still pothole stuff by doing it in brackets like this
