Istead that episode check this idea: CMC decided to explore their races straights and weakness in belive that help them get their CM, and they go to Mane Cast with this.

They are like the others. Strange, hideous, resisting, fighting. Only these were not like the others. They did not die.

I don't know, you need CONFLICT in order for a story to work. If they just passively went around asking about the races then that wouldn't make for much of a plot.

I like to think that earth ponies have a bit of magic resistance. There's absolutely nothing canon to back that up, but it helps negate the unicorn advantage.

Exactly, thus using my Griffon society as A nazi by another name example will increase the potential for plot and teach kids about history.
