You know I don't know why I'm even bothering asking you for help at this point. You're saying I can never hope to get anywhere with my current tools then I'm just going to give up. If you're saying I can't possible get any better by using GIMP than you're not even criticizing me anymore, just the medium I use.

@gingerninja 666: Interesting fact about Pinkie Pie, according to Lauren Faust executives at Hasbro initially thought that she would be "irritating and off-putting". Apparently as the season went on and Hasbro become more hands off she was able to make Pinkie "as zany as I always envisioned".

That kind of explains why I tended to like her less as the season went on.

I have a Bamboo tablet that I picked up for 60 bucks. It's been working alright for me so far. And yeah, you can do the sketch phase with a tablet, you just need to fiddle with the brush options to get a good light pencil setting. Of course you probably want a program like Photoshop which is very expensive.

I've always liked Pinkie...but Party Of One (which remains my favourite episode to date) has made me adore her.

Though I can perfectly understand why some might dislike her.

I suppose that's a workable Christmas present.

It's not really the zaniness that pisses me off about her though. It's...

arrrgghh, I don't know how to describe it. Her percieved infallability? The fact that she's always right (or rather, she's never been treated as being in the wrong by the show) and the fact that the universe rewards her for being zany.

The only thing that truly annoys me about Pinkie is her high, squeaky voice. I seldom understand what she says on first listen.

You can attempt to do better with what you got, pixel by pixel. It just requires tons of patience

I have a friend who can do amazing art with just pain and a mouse, but it takes FOREVER because he's doing it pixel by pixel but in the end it's a masterpeice.

I don't know what this Gimp thing is or how it works (or rather I attempted to figure it out and got nowhere) but you've made adequate process with what you have but in order to progress further you need to utilize the actual principles of drawing and a mouse is not going to do it unless you're working in vectors. It's why most artists eventually pick up tablets: allows them to draw like normal and still use computer software.

I don't really use a mouse for digital art. I use a track pad. I'm not sure how much difference that makes but that's something I do.

Currently I'm trying to use line tools to make up for some of the limitations of GIMP, but yeah... There still are proportion's issues.

You can probably get a small tablet for within the lower hundreds, but to be honest the better ones will cost you a pretty penny. I've read that the best tablet PC on the market are Fujitsu models, which run in the thousands, but they're the only tablet maker who makes 13" screens (in short, screens where the drawing area can accurately reflect the size of an ordinary piece of paper).

Just don't ever use Hewlett-Packard models. Damn cheaply made ripoffs...

Yeah, I keep WANTING to call her a Wesley, but since the majority of people just LOVE HER (spits) I can't dub her as such.

@gingerninja 666: I think its the fact that in a show where all the characters have flaws that are acknowledged, and even addressed, Pinkie's are not.

In a sense the show does not treat her character flaws as character flaws.

It would need to be an episode where Pinkie was broken down, punished, broken again, proved wrong, acted wrong, wasn't the solution to the problem at the end, and didn't just reset back to normal Pinkie mode at the end
