Derpy is pretty alright.
I don't keep up with fanon so to me she's just a Funny Background Event and a thumbs up to the brony community from the show makers.

Derpy? I'm pretty neutral in my attitude towards her. I don't necessarily agree with a lot of the fanon relating to her and I do believe the fandom rather needlessly latched onto her, but I haven''t got any sort of animosity regarding her, either.

And to retire this rhyming desire, I think she's an amusing character. Though I rarely find any fics actually about her. Like Bon Bon and Lyra, she's mostly a supporting character.

I think it was because she was the first background pony to be given a decent amount of characterization. She's still an important figure and holds some love from longt-time fans, but others like DJ Pon3 and Octavia are taking some of her spotlight.

My take on Derpy: I like her as a character. Is she my favorite? Not exactly. (For background ponies, Octavia's going to be my #1.)
Anyways, I'm pretty much hitting the hay tonight... Good night everypony! (At a future day, I may try again with artwork... with a much bigger canvas. 800 by 600 pixels didn't do me enough justice.)
