Doesn't he have the exact same body-type as Big Mac?

I always found it weird how overly critical everyone always is of Blueblood. All he did was the exact same things Rarity was doing the whole night. In a fandom that loves to give backstory to every random extra that trots across the screen, why does everyone assume Blueblood has no further depth to him?

Never quite got that either. I mean really, Diamond and most likely Spoony are just as unsympathetic as Blueblood, yet a good deal of the time they get woobie treatment whereas Blueblood is always the Butt Monkey.

Because he was never given any further depth. If all we ever saw of Rarity was that side of her, we'd hate her guts too.

oh, he definitely has a glass jaw. that's subconsciously been a part of my headcanon for him ever since i saw that episode.

It's possible he could be in good shape but his personality puts a severe limit on his physical ability. Ever see how Cartman squeals the second anyone touches him? I bet Blueblood is exactly the same, as befitting the spoilt brat theme he's got going.

Yeah, he has a ton of personal trainers and what not keeping him in perfect shape. Does the best fitness regime pony science knows of, looks as perfectly sculpted as can be. Yet would start crying in pain if you so much as poked him to hard.

@Blue: I think what also contributes to it is the fact that Blueblood appeared to be feigning interest in her, and then promptly treats her like garbage for most of the episode. If I remember correctly, he's the one who actually initiates contact with Rarity; he comes to her which implies a certain degree of interest on his point when in actually he doesn't care about her in any fashion. The other thing is that Blueblood's flaws go past simply not wanting to dote on Rarity; he's actively rude on several occasions. If all he had done was refuse to indulge her fantasies, it wouldn't have been too bad, but he doesn't really have any excuse for stuff like insulting Applejack.

the discussion we just had (and the fact that i'm watching Ip Man at the moment) got me wondering which martial art each of the humanized ponies would use. for Big Macintosh, i figured boxing: seemingly simple and straightforward in the surface, but surprisingly complex, like Macintosh himself. i have Rainbow Dash pegged for a northern shaolin style. for Pinkie: Capoeira. it's practically dancing; she'd love it. haven't thought of anything specific for the others; perhaps something analytical for Twilight, Wing Chun maybe? i'm not an expert here.

Using Rarity as a shield was the breaking point. Up until then, Rarity had been very patient with his jerkishness.
