Azuma being a poni fan would be awesome. Hey, maybe we can get Ume-sensei (of Hidamari Sketch fame and she also designed the girls for Madoka) in on it too.

Nostalgia cartoon trip. Also I feel old since my childhood cartoons were He-Man, Thundercats, Smurfs, G1 MLP, X-Men, and the Real Ghostbusters.

Manwithoutabody's Dramatic Reading of Master of the Universe ruined He-Man for me.

I enjoyed Precure wen I was convinced into watching. Shame the others won't get any dubs, or most magical girl anime in general.

And all I'm sayingas that we'd better get an English release for the new Sailor Moon anime.

I have a question or maybe just a discussion topic about a pony fan controversy that I've had on my mind. What does one do when there is more than one name for a pony, and both names are used by at least somewhat official sources? I would assume the general rule would be "each fan decides the answer for him/herself" but it was something I was wondering about.

Specifically, with Bon Bon/Sweetie Drops. She isn't named on the show, but apparently while the toys and the Elements of Harmony book use the name Sweetie Drops, the trading cards and the Gameloft game use the name Bon Bon, as well as some other things such as closed captioning. I personally tend to take my hierarchy of what is considered to be canon as Show>Toys>Other official sources including the comics, so following that, I'm more inclined to assume that Sweetie Drops is her formal name, at least. It's just more confusing when multiple official sources give the same character different names, and it's not something I've ever experienced before becoming a fan of this particular version of My Little Pony.

By the way, some of this is for a fanfic I've been planning that focuses on background and toyline ponies and only recently considered including Sweetie Drops/Bon Bon and then wasn't sure what to call her in the story. When communicating with other fans in general, I would understand and use both names for her, since I'm personally fine with either one. It's just that when writing a story I would rather have one name to stick to. An obvious solution, of course, is to have "Bon Bon" be her nickname like how the trading cards list "Carrot Top" as being Golden Harvest's nickname.

(and I am also a big fan of Pretty Cure and Sailor Moon and most of the fanfics I write are based off of those two shows, especially the latter)

I remember Lyra was named Heartstrings and the fandom just made Heartstrings into her surname.

I personally tend to take it on a case-by-case basis, mainly because I basically go Show> official spin-off material (the comics)> toys/games in terms of canon.

In a case like Bon Bon, people probably aren't going to understand if you use Sweetie Drops. I know I wouldn't.

It's probably just too iconic at this point. I've seen people use Sweetie Drops as an embarassing first name and she prefers to be called Bon Bon. Only Lyra can get away with calling her that.

@storyyeller: That's true, too. I thought of an idea. Because sometimes background ponies, such as Bon Bon, are shown with duplicates in a scene, what if she has a twin sister named Sweetie Drops? That would probably be a good solution, too.

the Mirror Pool has actually been used by several ponies over the years before being sealed off after the Pinkie Pie incident. however, since these ponies are otherwise unremarkable and haven't disrupted the standard flow of Ponyville after using the Mirror Pool, they aren't given a second thought.

@Rainbow: I saw a comic once that theorized that Bon Bon is one out of a set of identical sextuplets, and Lyra keeps getting them all confused.

Egophiliac made it so that Bon Bon has seven different lookalike sisters whose cutie marks are all different things that just look like candy and all have different voices.

Wasn't she also doing all the Bon-Puns, or was that someone else?
