Perhaps extend the initial part of the episode, maybe have the bit where she works the spell be part of the episode instead of a flashback.
Not sure where to split. Maybe a lot of things are tried to reverse the curse, and we get the split when it all seems to have failed and things look darkest. The second episode would involve finding the proper method and applying it, then discovering and performing the way to fix the spell?

I'd have added a scene involving failed attempts to undo the curse, and then cutting it right when Twilight gets zapped.
Then the second episode would include scenes of the cast wondering WTF is going on while Twilight is gone (she vanishes during the day, and reappears at night), and maybe repairing the damage. The actual reveal would occur midway through the episode and the 2nd half would address the implications of Twilight's ascension.
@Apple: When you get it done, let me know. Depending on my schedule, I may be able to proofread it for you.

Okay I have decided on what kind of narrator I want for my fanfic series, it'll basically be a comedic narrator in a sort of fantasy story book style which you'll have to admit fits the vibe of the My Little pony universe. The narrator will pretty much oversee the events that take place inside the castle via a crystal ball in the form of the sphereical tank.

@Minimal teleporting: It's a very high risk spell, and many ponies don't do it for good reason. The last thing we want is a little pony to have a teleport incident! I'd really hate to see Fluttershy suffer a teleport gone wrong.

yeah it sems rather rare. Though she learned it frm NMM so we know she could do it too. And Discord. but then again this is Discord. he doesn't teleport, we stays still and makes reality shift so that he was always standing in the new spot.
