Yeah, Ginger, please calm down. I'm just trying to figure out how, theoretically, romance, sexual attraction etc. would even work in the pony world, and how their way of looking at things would be different from us humans. I'm not demanding that the show actually include romance or sexual elements. That would be silly.

They carry on as usual, but when this character shows up...depending on who it is...they either flirt with them or get all shy and ackward.

Eh, I don't think it would really add much. Stuff like RD having a crush on Soarin' or something could work, but any more detail than that would be too much. Stuff like shipping is so common in the fandom anyway that sometimes it loses the general sense of friendship in favor of romance. To go to The Four Loves, it basically means that Storge and Phileo get shoved to the side in favor of Eros.

I don't mind romance and junk showing up in fan works (there it can even be endearing), but please, please not in the actual show itself.

There are SO many other types of relationships that can be explored.

Nopony is asking for romance or sex to actually show up in the show. So calm down.

I can agree with that. I'm kinda sick of the tendency for people to try to turn every friendship into a romance. I mean, don't get me wrong, I like a lot of shipping material, but I like keeping it separate from the show.

Something with flanks, obviously. I'm guessing it has something to do with the overall body shape.

I could maybe see liking an episode where one of the Mane Six gets a coltfreind, as long as the focus was less on the relationship, then on the other ponies reactions to it. But I'd still prefer not to.

as to age, Word Of God is that ponies physical age and emotional age are vastly more different from each other then is the case with humans, with mental age lagging behind physical. So while it's clear most of the Mane Cast is within a few months to a year of each other physically, there mental/emotional developments can still be vastly different. Mental maturity wise I'd list them AJ, Rarity, Twilight, Fluttershy, RD, Pinkie.

As to ponies attractiveness. Fluttershy and Rarity deffintly the two highest, with Fluttershy being a very natural beauty while Rarity's is maintained through lots and lots of effort. I kinda see Twilight as fairly close to them, she just doesn't do anything to make herself look better like Rarity does. AJ being the kinda plain but still adorable farmer's daughter type. RD the very athletic build, and Pinkie of course with a bit of meat on her but still very attractive.

It's really hard to say, seeing as though they all look alike.

Coat colour? Their mane styles? Personality?

The stallions in Sonic Rainboom were basically wolf whistling at Rarity's wings. They clearly thought they were attractive in THAT way.

they've also probably never seen anything like it before.

As to equine attractiveness, i'd guess it would be like human's more or less, every stallion has there own idea of what qualities are best. But probly some of the more looked at things would be, mane/tail color and styling, facial features, flank size and shape, etc..

But I do like the thought that it really is the personality that matters most for most ponies.

You kjnow a while ago I found myself wondering how pegasi would steer, and now... I really don't need the mental image of a pegasi with a rudder...

If we look for attraction from a biological standpoint, then qualities good for breeding and foal care would be attractive. Which would probably mean wider hips, maybe shorter legs... bit broader, and just generally sort of stout. Which, come to think of it, would make Mrs. Cake and Rarities mom, like, goddesses. Wow. There's a weird thought for you.

Still though, there's the cultural aspect of attraction too; what we're told is attractive (or, what they're told). We don't see much defined beauty in the show(which is a brilliant move for the kids - if we don't define what looks good, we're not getting any of that unrealistic standards for beauty crap[I know it's hardly relevant considering the shows cast, but still]), it's difficult to tell. But a lot of dresses and cloths show off the front legs, and those that cover the front legs are very form-fitting. So maybe thinner legs are pretty? Rarity also comments on not wanting to make Dash 'look like a tank', so we can extrapolate that rounder flanks probably aren't that attractive.

Round doesn't necessarily equal "tank", that could be more about bulkiness. Like a larger flank is fine as long as it isn't flabby. Or something. But really, I don't think we can extrapolate too much from Rarity's comments; Dash is probably pretty slim to start with, so it's only natural that she wouldn't want the dress to be too bulky.

I don't know if anyone else noticed, but in addition to the Pinkielita◊ and Zecora◊ shirts◊, there was a Twist◊ shirt that also got removed. Maybe they were getting ahead of themselves and putting up shirts they haven't made yet?

From what I've seen, it's like they put the design up, pull it shortly after, and then put it back up later. Several of the shirts in the store now got temporarily pulled for some reason. No idea why, though.
