Mainly because most Americans consider a sport where a 90 minute game only has like 4 goals to be boring.

Not that that stopped Baseball.

Most of the time spent in a baseball game is waiting for something to happen.

I'm not sure how big it is, but I've pictured it being about 5000 in population with a hundred odd travelers and ponies from around the area visiting and using it as a pit stop.

I picture Ponyville as the Manes' houses, a street of perpetually-locked buildings, and an item shop.

Baseball is fun enough when you're watching the game in person. Somehow the TV and radio broadcasts suck all the joy out of the game.
And, since today is apparently National Jump To Conclusions Day...

@Story: I don't really care for baseball either. Like Meta said actually being at the game is fun because there's a cool atmosphere to it, but watching it on TV or whatever is boring.

The only sport I actually follow in any capacity (as in, I actually watch it outside of the playoffs) is American Football. Partly because I think it has a good balance between strategy and physical prowess, there's a decent amount of tension on each play, and I actually understand the strategy because my dad played football in college and can explain what's going on.

Greetings everyone.

The only sportish thing I really ever was into was skateboarding. I wasn't bad, I could at least hold my own in a pool without making myself look like a poser.

That, and goalball.
Roses are red, violets are blue.

I'm sorry to say, you've been eaten by a Grue.

I had to look up goalball. It sounds like an entertaining sport.

This is not consistent with my experience.

Yeah soccer/football is gradually getting more popular, but it's an uphill battle. Mainly because most Americans consider a sport where a 90 minute game only has like 4 goals to be boring.

Which is funny, because I find North American Football to fall into the same category of boringness. From what I've caught of the NFL games, it's a really slow, back-and-forth-in-the-midfield-maybe-two-touchdowns-all-game-if-you're-lucky affair. And CFL has the opposite problem where almost every game just turns into a curb-stomp, which just saps any semblance of tension.

There's also the fact that at least Soccer is continuous - American Football, for it's 1.5 hour runtime, only has about 10-20 minutes of actual play, on average.

Plus the most intense moments of Soccer are when it gets close to the goal, which happens fairly frequently. Even if there's no score, it's still pretty intense.

For some reason, I can see the gold eyes working with the blue color. (That, or it was purple and yellow, or blue and orange... Can't recall complementary colors.)

Back from the walk, and I detest how I keep getting accosted by bugs! It's like they know I'm an enemy to them!
It's a Demonic Lighthouse Slide! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I beg of you, Durza, make it so.

Fancy doesn't look right with gold eyes, IMO. I prefer the blue.

What? As I understand it, scores are usually in the 20s range. So 3 touchdowns a game is normal.

We can see more than one street

More than one street? Or the same street from a different angle???

And the background ponies are all guards. Every town's population is 80% guards.

Story: Really? Because I usually see stuff like 7-0 or 14-0 and have been told by friends who watch regularly that that's a pretty bog-standard game.

If you really think about it, are two roads that connect with each other really different streets? Or is the highway system really just one, big lump of pavement?

MIND BLOWN

(American) football: final scores vary wildly. Sometimes the defense is a fucking brick wall and you get 7-0 or less, sometimes the defense chokes on both sides and you get a ridiculous 48-69.

My first year at UO was one of our "destroy almost everything in sight" ones (wouldn't have been an almost if the refs weren't sleeping with USC), and more than once the poor Duck had to do 50-60 pushups by the end of the game.

Ahoy hoy! Fancy with gold eyes. Yay or neigh?

I think you should tone down the brightness of the eyes a bit. But other than that, it could work.

Story: Really? Because I usually see stuff like 7-0 or 14-0 and have been told by friends who watch regularly that that's a pretty bog-standard game.

Well I'm not a football fan, so I can't really say for sure.

Apple: I'd stick with the blue too. If you're trying to match it to the aura, I don't think you need to. The show seems to like tying it more to some aspect of their cutie mark, and you've already got some gold in Fancy's.
