Speaking of which, I just poured orange juice in my cereal bowl. Guess it's just one of those days.
The second one was 1991 and has actual CG. The plot device they use is actually really clever in hindsight given their limitations - it makes the stuff they need to render really computationally lightweight but still looks cool.
Though I've heard that they also do a lot of stuff that you might think is CGI but wasn't. Like the mirror scene.

Interesting that thread at that point was about PMMM and what pony is similar to what Madoka character (and it was before I become fan that show).
I agree that Mami is like Celestia. Like young Celestia with more crappy live.
