It also led me to discover a sandwich that had every right to be disgusting, but was actually incredibly tasty. Bread with garlic cloves baked in, honey ham lunchmeat, a thick slice of jarlsburg, and dill pickles. There was something especially mysterious and sexy about the pickle-cheese interaction that perfectly balanced the otherwise overwhelming garlic taste.

Yeah, whole cloves sounds like overkill. Although I've heard that cooking the garlic in certain ways can make the taste less overwhelming.

@ Orion:Well, not whole cloves. They were chopped up into quarters. But I have to say it that way, lest people think I'm referring to garlic bread, which is an entirely different beast.

@ Crowfall: You need to make one and report back to me on if it lived up to expectations. Part of the weirdness for me was that it didn't require anything like mayonase or mustard. It just was what it was all on its own.
