ghasts, ghouls,
Well, ghasts and ghouls are basically the same thing, but with ghasts being worse. Would seem a little repettitve.
wights,
Don't wights require the person to have been killed by negative energy?
and the one with the skeletal body and intestine tongue, they're all good.
Ah. Mohrgs. Yeah, they're a bit disgusting, but a possibility.
Discworld undead,
Hmmm... I've rad Carpe Jugulum, but I'm not that familiar with Discworld undead.
liches,
Liches are awesome and would fit well, but require consent from the person before death, IIRC.
meguca,
Similar issues. Plus no Kyuubey.
advanced flesh golems,
Well, they're technically not undead. And they require multiple bodies which doesn't work well for the story.
dullahans.
Not familiar with. Link to a place I can find out about them, please?
EDIT:
[[quteblock]]Zombies, [[/quoteblock]]
Mindless. That's a problem.
Vampires,
Considered. Is there a way to create a vampire without another vampire?
Skeletons,
Same problem as zombies. Skeleton
warriors I considered, but perhaps too similar to death knights?
Husks,
I'll have to check these out.
Revenants,
Require a desire for revenge in the departed, IIRC.
ghosts,
Can that be done to the unwilling? I considered spectres though. They might work.
poltergeists,
Again, can that be done to the unwilling?
necromancers (technically)
That's more of an occupation. Plenty of living necromancers out there.
