Hi everyone, what's going on?

I think part of the problem is that most of us don't know much about previous gens.

I could consider some time into that task, but I don't know if it's worth the question to ask.

@dark Well I asked the question at the pre-G4 thread and bumped it.

I used to think that pegasi being able to stand on cloud shouldn't be considered magic. Then I remembered, that other ponies require having additional spell cast on them in order to do so, so it should be logical that whatever allowing pegasi to stand on cloud is magic.

Which reminds me, I'm way behind on my G3 reviews. Bah, I knew I was forgetting something.

At the very least, they're good for killing midseason waiting time. It's what I watched all of G1 between s2 and 3.

The crystal ponies power is immortality. They're virtually indestructable and never age. That would go a long way to explaining why there are no unicorns, earth ponies and pegasi in the Crystal Empire. The curse took their country away but it didn't freeze them in time, so only the Crystal Ponies survived while the others died of old age.

Would also add an element to Fridge Horror. The unspeakable torment that Sombra was facing could get very terrible, but the ponies wouldn't die unless Sombra was trying for that.

My headcanon is that all alicorns have the powers of Earth Ponies, Pegasi, and Unicorns by default but Crystal Pony magic takes much more study to understand and replicate. So Celestia and Luna now have Crystal Pony immortality as well as the sparkly manes to complete the package. Cadance and Twilight haven't mastered Crystal Pony magic and thus have normal manes and aren't immortal yet.

Except, the end of Crystal Empire implies that Crystal Ponies aren't a race in and of themselves, or even inherently unique - when the Crystal Heart goes off, everyone in radius gets Crystalified. The Crystal ponies probably just present the magic of the Crystal Heart more due to being in constant proximity to it.

My interpretation is that crystal ponies are their own tribe, but setting off the Heart causes temporary chrystalisation even in those who aren't.

With that logic Kegi Cadence should already by Crystal. She lives and rules the Crystal Empire and presumably seldom leaves it but yet we've seen less sparkling from her than from Celestia and Luna.

Plus Crystal Ponies can be crystal even when not in the Crystal Empire, as seen in Magical Mystery Cure I believe. Also they became crystal before the heart went off unlike the Mane Six, Shining Armour and Cadance.

Except she hasn't been around it as long as the Crystal Ponies - it's hard to say when it would start, and how deep the effect is. Maybe it would only set in after a few Crystal ceremonies. It's hard to say.

I mean, I can't exactly take your headcannon from you, but I'm a lot more inclined to call it related to the artifact that demonstrably affected every other pony than to view them as a whole new tribe.

Well, we don't exactly know how long before Sombra showed up had they been around the crystal heart, so maybe it had plenty of time to affect them until they didn't qualify as regular ponies anymore.

Thing is if they're not a tribe why call them "Crystal Ponies". That's exactly the same as calling Earth Ponies, Earth Ponies. Meanwhile I believe that if one is talking about one's nation of origin the show tends to use adjectives to indicate that "French Haute Couture please" "Equestrian Games"

Speaking of Sombra, this is a pretty cool picture. Though I headcanon Sombra's scary door, or something similar, had briefly broken Luna's connection to the Elements so they had to take him without them.

It doesn't seem unbelievable to me that "Crystal" could be a nationality, similar to "Equestrian Ponies".

Admittedly, my style of headcanon, for everything tends to lean towards the interpretation of "more". If that makes sense. Basically the way that shows the verse as bigger, more complex and more epic.

@Kegisak: I dunno, I tend to see crystallization as a binary state; a pony either is or isn't. They were already crystal before the Crystal Heart was activate (and they remain as such after it's turned off, whereas Cadance, SA, and the mane cast aren't Crystal anymore), so I'm more inclined to think they were always like that and the Crystal Heart simply crystallizes other ponies as a byproduct.

I lost that ebay battle.

As to crystal ponies, I take it they made the heart which is a product of their unique biology, not vice versa...somehow. I don't how though.
