Depends, is it an alien that actually looks alien, or is it one of those looks just like a human aliens? Because in that case my reaction would probably just be "hi."

Really though, unlike it starts killing things, human being's most natural reaction to anything bizarre is apathy/short interest.

Humanity's first reactions to anything are to attempt to militarize it, and make porn out of it. So if we find aliens most people will probably ask either "Should we fight them?" and "Are we sexually compatible?"

And then there are the philosophers who will wonder about the greater implications for the universe.
