This guy is what I achieved today◊. It came about because, I was looking for ways to make the Limie Ponies a bit different, and it occurred to me that Pip, who could possibly be one in my fanon, is 'pie bald'. And I thought hey, what if they all where? Crystal Ponies are shiny and see through, Bat Ponies are bat like...Limies are patterned. I got the colours from a Spitfire btw.

Only problem is, this might make them really hard to do...keeping their patterns consistent...unless I cheat and say that their patterns can 'shift'. It's their magic ability...erm, so yeah, what do you all think of this? Introduce the pattern for native Limies or leave it?

Oh and yeah, it's quite rough I know...I'll polish these up later.

Huh! I kind of like that Applelight. And it's an interesting idea. British ponies have patches.

Well you have a problem with coloring outside the lines, and I think you should keep the color of the wingtips consistent (real birds do AFAIK). Other then that it's fine.

Maybe there could be a Forsaken-like faction of Changelings that aren't entirely good, but have joined forces with the ponies so they have a chance at defeating their former Queen.

Spreading plague everywhere and a sexy changeling leader falling off the slippery slope to becoming just like Chrysalis optional.

I'm going to further develop this. Lets see how coconut might look all patterned up.

I like the patterns on the ponies Apple. It shouldn't be too hard to keep the patterns semi-consistent as long as you don't make them too complex.

Make ref sheets for characters showing the position of their pattern marks and just get them in the general ballpark each time... Im sure nobody is going to be super nitpicky about it.

I'm pretty sure that the mechanics of changeling feeding and the Crystal Heart's powers are different. Changelings feed on love by draining it out of existing sources; it means the affection is going to the wrong place. I.e. Chrysalis could only feed off of SA's love for Cadance if Cadance wasn't actually receiving any of it.

The Crystal Heart is more of an Amplifier Artifact; it simply reflects the Crystal Ponies' state of mind; if they're happy and positive, it amplifies those positive feelings, and if they're negative it simply goes dormant. It's not powered by love, per se, it's just activated by it.

Wait, use the Changelings as brothel workers. If you can assume the form of anypony, that could be put to some... creative uses.

And have Pinkie as manager to make sure nothing goes wrong and the changelings don't go too far. And it'll be called... Wait for it, Kinkie Pinkies.

In the meantime, I'd like to talk about how 'dark' I could make this without ruining the feel of the show I'm going for. It'll be tricky...like, how would death fit into it.

This sounds enormously counter-productive. If you don't want things to go south, Pinkie is the last pony you'd want running things.

Not exactly. If having fun is her special talent, shouldn't she know better than anyone else how far that can go before things go wrong?

In theory, but we have seen her be mistaken on that front before.

i say we let Chrysalis run the brothel, but have Twilight supervise the operation with a petrifying spell handy just in case.

@Dark: She's good at throwing parties and making ponies happy that way; this is an entirely different type of fun.

Ye gods. I can just picture Twilight trying to keep a straight face while keeping track of the transactions.

You could have death Apple, just try to stay clear of the Grimdark stuff. Don't kill people for the shock effect. Maybe try to keep it as a necessary evil?

What I could do is, particularly nasty enemies can suffer karmic deaths, perhaps thanks to their own actions. But I should kept it really at an absolute minimum.

That's stretching it a bit if you want to keep to show feel (the show may handle death at one point, but it's not exactly likely). The comic gets a bit darker and some death could happen at that level. But of course, the way death is portrayed has an effect.

Even the war scenes of Dog Days had "death" (well, they called it that at least. But it's about equivalent to losing a life in a video game in their culture and mostly an inconvenience in terms of practicallity).

EDIT: Sounds about right to me.

Well, I interpret her talent as "helping others enjoy themselves" which this would ... apply to, I guess. But that's just what I think. And when a talent applies, it's less likely to go wrong, but more likely to go spectacularly wrong in the even't it goes wrong at all.

I think death should be limited to one or two characters per arc. Disney style or whatever. Big bads, dragons etc...mooks just get beaten up, routed or arrested.
