Merging is sort of a useless function anyways. When you save an image in an actual image type, like jpg or png, every visible layer becomes 'flattened' into the final image by default.

Merging layers while working can be useful, though. Applelight's problem in his case is that the outline exists on a separate layer from the coloring, and it looks weird because he can only shade the color layer. Merging first might help. Then again, I know very little about art, so I might just be blowing smoke.

Hey everyone, what's going on over here?

I've got a new respect for birds. A giant 3-and-a-half-foot bird just crashed into our window. It was so loud you could hear it all across the dorm.

A buddy went to see if it was OK and it went from laying flat on the ground to swooping upright on it's wings and screeching for a good ten seconds. It hit the glass with it's beak two more times and took off.

I have no idea what the thing was, but it's made my response to pegasi less awww and more please don't kill me.

@Applelight: i know the feeling. there are days where i can't even get past the basic construction for my drawings. there is just nothing flowing correctly.

His wings kinda ended up on his butt the first time I put him together.

I was having a bad sewing day last night. Broke another needle on my machine and am actually kinda stuck at the moment. I have to buy more needles but no paycheck for another week :(
