Eh, I can do a pretty good BBQ. Then again, with a decent grill (meaning it has a cover you can move around so as to control how much air gets in) anyone can.

I need to have at least some amount of meat because I am a wrestler. Sure, I can probably get the proteins from beans or eggs, but just eating meat is simpler. And tastier!

My main thing is just learning via touch. A lot of what my parents tried to teach was best on visual cues so I ended up burning my food.

So a few months ago I spent the day modifying my kitchen and now it's much, much easier to cook.

@Applelight - Yes, I do. I also used to do judo too, but the schedule changed and it became a lot more incovenient so I am doing just wrestling. I haven't done it for a week though; I fell pretty badly so I can't really do anything besides walking in a slow pace.

I worked in the college grill back when I was in college and by far the worst part of the job was cleaning the bacon pans. Getting all that grease off was a nightmare. But yeah, I'd actually love to cook more than I do, but when I factor in an hour of cleaning it's just not worth the trouble.

It's all about texture for me. Bad vegan food (especially ones that emulate non vegan ingredients or dishes) are often mushy, even if they taste good.

One thing that's a big problem in vegan cooking is the substitution for eggs and milk, so good vegan pastries are hard to come by.

@JT - I don't know about the smell (I have bad nose), but yes, cleaning up is a pain.

It's funny, for the three weeks I worked in a fast food place, cleaning was really the only tolerable part. Of course that's because the rest of my job was trying to put chicken into boiling oil as fast as I could and having an angry old man watching over my shoulder disapprovingly as I made pizza. Cleaning out the freezer was nice. Cool, quiet and simple.

Cleaning out the freezer is nice. Cleaning dishes while having one ear active for customer calls at all time, not so much.

Huh. I think we were talking about food when I logged of yesterday. Good to know this thread is consistent.

JT is absolutely correct. Cleaning bacon grease, especially when cooking for a lot of people, is a major pain in the ass.

If you're having trouble making detailed drawings, maybe try embracing a simpler look. There are artists who do good work with a simple style.

Question: Does anypony have any writing/drawing music? As in something to put in the background as you work?

I'm finding I can focus more on my work if I have something playing as I go. I prefer ambient, but I've exhausted my collection so I'll take anything.

I don't have anything specific, but you could use pandora. I'm not sure if they've got a playlist for ambient though.
