Trouser titans. The best mental image you can get out of that is something like a several kilometers long pair of pants gaining a life of their own and getting locked up in Tartarus for it.

So... turns out that task that I thought I had four weeks to do it in?

I've got two.

I'm going to be living at work for the next two weeks.

So how the hay can the dub call it a dance party? Either the dubbers didn't see the Best Night Ever before naming, or they're be a bit of awkwardness when they get there. Still, we'll now have At the Dance Party as a song title! DJ Pon3 would approve.

Of course they are. Queen Bumble from G1 was one of the more notable antagonists. She was more greedy than outright evil, but the ponies basically had to bribe her with a steady supply of food to stop her hive from screwing over Dream Valley.

Aren't videogame companies pretty much always in 'crunch' mode?

Apparantly they waited until the last minute to get me working on it for... logical reasons, admittedly. Reasons I can't divulge for legal reasons, of course.

Still, teensy bit frustrating. I spent the morning giving another guy a crash course on it, but I won't call him in to actually do the work unless it looks like I'm running up against a deadline I can't make.

Yes and no. Depends on where you work. My company is sort of in the camp of "You should never need to do overtime(And therefore we get no benefits or reparation for it, except me because I'm outsourced)", which means we don't have crunch as a default. Of course crunch still happens, under which time you're encouraged to work OT if necessary. But crunch only really started when alpha hit, which was the last third of the project.

Sort of. It's junior work at best - taking care of stuff that's too time consuming and simple for the designers to bother with. IT's a UI-related task, I'm just helping out with menu stuff.

@Keg: Ouch, that sucks. It's never fun when a deadline gets pushed up, especially when it's something that was already a bit of a crunch. Hope everything goes as smoothly as possible.

I used to think about working in the games industry, but I decided it wasn't for me.

I have not been on this thread since page 14111.
