@Japanese Pinkie song: I would need to see the lyrics written out to translate it more exactly, but from what I could tell, they had translated it very accurately, right down to the same tune. I think they even used an Engrish "Granny Pie" instead of having Pinkie refer to her "obaa-chan" which would be a friendly way to refer to one's grandmother in Japanese. The main difference was that the "Giggle at the Ghosties" line itself was something that, so far as I can tell, translates more to "laugh and make them fly away" and I think it was something like "warai tobasou." It sounded very much to me like the ponies from the original show speaking/singing in Japanese (Pinkie's voice in particular really does sound like the original character just speaking a different language).

BTW any other opinion of the rhetorical "MLP on Disney Channel" thing I posted earlier? G3 gave some precedent with A Very Minty Christmas, Lauren Faust is working on a new Disney Toon and Dave Polsky created yet another Disney toon before working on MLP. There's also the sister and international stations airing shows form rivals (Fairly OddParents, the DCAU etc)

The Japanese song was pretty OK. Some parts sound awkward to my ears, but I'm always kind of sensitive to the way things sound.

Now watching: JPN-s1e2 :D

@Roy: Up do my grandparents. My parents are both pegasi, my grandmother on my mom's side is a unicorn, the grandfather is also a pegasus, my grandmother on my dad's side are both earth ponies. I guess there were some pegasi further down my dad's side somewhere, but I don't know about it.

I thought it was pretty good. In particular, Nightmare Moon was done just as hammy and self-assured as we like her. Spike sounds a little too young for my tastes, and Rarity's going to take some getting used too, but they're pretty solid over all. It's certainly the best dub I've heard so far.

@Orion - I ran through some of your personal files and it turns out that you have some Diamond Dog blood in you.
